No wonder everyone hates this piece of shit game. Literally nobody talks and the few people that do seem like AI. It's over.

Well yeah you logged into the wrong game, that's the micro transaction graveyard that only exists to fund old school
>>
You play rs3 for yourself, not the community. You can find a clan with people to talk to for sure. Out in the world it's mostly comforting to see the occasional player while you skill. Like you are playing through this dead game but you aren't entirely alone. 1300 is good but as a hcim you have a long way to go. Id recommend getting 70 combats and levelling up that slayer I to the 80s.

Wanting to talk to and meet people online is a relic from when the gamer population was this
>>
well I guess it's time to switch to old school runetic!
>>
>>724205814
They're all AFK because the devs themselves consider RuneScape a second monitor game
>>
Literally every game has been like this for about a decade now
>>
>>724205814
why do you keep making these threads?
>>
>>724206658
we are all one consciousness so you must ask yourself
>>
anyway I'm quitting this game it sucks
>>
Now that the dust has settled, EoC was exactly as bad as everyone said it was

If revolution bars did the same dmg as manual I wouldn't mind it very much.

osrs is better but still ultimately suffers from the same issue of RS being a grindy slave your life away game

That's the fun

desu I just wanted brighter shores to actually be good...

maybe when it fully releases it will be good
>>
>>724207823
You are better off doing one of two things
1: make your own grind fest MMO
2: find a single player grind fest like RimWorld or kenshi to disappear into
>>
I played some of 2004scape then a few days later they forced us to to make a discord account to even sign in fuck that lmfao
>>
>>724207823
Maybe one day, but you gotta keep in mind Runescape had nearly 2 decades of support behind it. Unless some ridiculous team of autists dedicates themselves to making a Runescape style MMO for years it's never gonna compete.

I've never played Runescape, but I've been watching videos about the game in its heyday, the Classic and Runescape 2 era seemed like a wild time to play. What went wrong with this version of Runescape?
>>
>>724208330
I never played 3, but MTX and changing combat to regular MMO slop. RS2 (and to an extent) OSRS is simple but finds interesting ways to make kicking your opponent in the shins interesting
>>
>>724208330
it's hard to find a video that truly explains why so just watch this guy play and review it. all of his criticisms are extremely fair if you've ever actually played the game and aren't biased af like the few people left playing it.

But modern OSRS proves how much a good version was still needed

>zero indians, desertcucks and their kin
Absolute dream

>What went wrong with this version of Runescape?
A myriad of factors.
The most high-level answer is, unstable corporate leadership and new-blood devs who didn't understand the game.
Then in 2012, a Venture Capital firm bought a majority stake, and a month later RS3 got its first official MTX/P2W. https://runescape.wiki/w/Squeal_of_Fortune
And at the end of the year, the game had a fundamental gameplay shift with essentially ripping off WoW's combat. https://runescape.wiki/w/Evolution_of_Combat
And from then on, RS3 kept getting more streamlined while the MTX got worse.
Currently it's so bad, that the current CEO even admitted they need to scale back or the game is dead.
>>
>Squeal of Fortune
What a curious name for the thing that destroys 10 years of credibility overnight
>>
>>724208516
What a fucking biased video by itself, it's just comparing it to osrs from a content creator FOR osrs.
>>
>>724209561
You need to understand something. RS3 is such a tremendously dead game that you literally can't find a fully up to date video analyzing the historical context as to why the game is bad. You can find one from years ago but not a truly up to date one that covers everything.

RS3 isn't the worst game in the world but it's a bad RuneScape. If they would rename it and stop carrying its original legacy it might even go somewhere.

Honestly, people don't really get it. 2012 was such a tremendously bad fuckup on Jagex's part it's widely considered to be one of the biggest gaming fuckups of all time.

I was there. It's the same story you will likely get in any YouTube essay.

At first it was a browser game that anyone could play. Most kids that played were f2p, almost nobody had members back then. It was very forward for the time. You could do whatever you wanted in game, choose the skill you like and sell your goods to buy weapons, armor, food. Some of my friends fished lobs, others did woodcutting, I liked to mine. You would go on the forums to find buyer, or follow a community map to the section of the world where people sold at in w1/2/3 the trade worlds. Everywhere you went was packed. Everyone would talk to you. Everyone was so nice and going to the fishing hole was cozy and replaced yahoo chat rooms for a while for me.
Years passed, the fally massacre happened, we got older, quit for WoW, all that. Rs got more stuff, they added to the map, and the game was so popular they had to find ways to stop fraud before the credit card companies dropped them.
One thing lead to another and one day you logged in to find that there were trade limits and every item has a set price. So no more gifting your friends gear and free shit, everything you farmed had a set value. That was when they added the grand exchange and RuneScape died. Not long after they undid some trade stuff but added a hotbar and skills to compete with wow.
By this point most people left and those that wanted to come back found a game that was too different from their memories. A few years later they added the squeal of fortune. Paid experience lamps. A few more years of downturn, and then osrs was polled to the community, accepted, and here we are.

Microtransactions were added in 2012 and the abilities were added afterwards. Also in 2012.
>>
>>724209561
Peon's review is probably the most generous one you'll ever find lol. RS3 boomers like Protoxx would be substantially harsher.
>>
I think it really just comes down to one thing.

They have somehow managed to make RS3 clunkier and more unresponsive than OSRS.

Now that's a fucking feat lmao.
>>
>>724205814
Most of them are botting in that game, the rest will just seethe in chat if they see youre botting so you could try that to make them talk
>>
>>724210138
By that time I would play the occasional month of sub per year at most. It's been a long time. Still, rs3 is the original game and it's where my loyalty lies. For all the talk about osrs rs3 has it beat in a lot of ways. You MUST make your own overloads in rs3 at 94 herb. The fact you can buy that shit on osrs with all the rmt in that game is hilarious. And honestly as much as I hated the dailies for a game like RuneScape not having dailies and being forced into these grind is pretty bad. No bonus XP is also a huge shit your mouth.
