HALO OH NO NO
>>
It's over

What am I looking at here?
>>

is that silent cartographer, is this another remake?

Looks cool
>>

it's been so long since I launched that hog, is the invisible wall new with the remake? Does it block the launch or something?
>>

What sort of barrier would you ladies put there instead? You can't have chief be able to just drive around under water like a maniac.
>>
>>724206031
AI is so advanced i couldn't even tell for a moment, but the background looking like a stock windows wallpaper was a dead giveaway, how did you remove the sora watermark?

it blows up in the original iirc

In the original you can drive in the water for all eternity.

Ermmm that's not lore accurate sweetie.

Halo. It's finished.
>>
>>724208160
The story has ended with Halo 3. The games have been over since Reach.
>>
>>724206674
No it does not
>>
>>724206192
Yes. 343 is making a UE5 slop remake of 1's campaign
>>
>>724206031
halo was already in its death throes when bungie delivered us the mess that was the halo 3 campaign. then we had odst which they couldn't commit properly too when it comes to the stories tone, all over the place, then we got reach which jwas the final nail in the coffin. notice i'm not mentioning the multiplayer, which i had a lot of fun with mostly because it was my friends and me having a good time. no hope for 343 but lets not pretend bungie wasn't dead by halo odst.

Suicidebros...
>>
>>724206674
No, the Warthog doesn't blow up in CE, even in multiplayer. In the original game, there was an invisible wall but it was several hundred meters into the water. You could get so far out that the island would look tiny.
>>
>>724211242
if they had more "other side" focused cutscenes they could have had him descend into zealotry after getting confirmation that shit was real, and that he had found the ark that made the rings.
would have made it work way better.
>>
>>724206031
Were waypoints always a thing in Halo or is this another fuckup?
>>
>>724206432
You don't need a barrier. Let the player drive into the water and die one time and then it's boring and they go back to playing normally. Invisible walls just make it lame
>>
>>724206432
Oh I don't know, maybe have you sink and die like in the original?
>>
>>724211452
>there was an invisible wall but it was several hundred meters into the water. You could get so far out that the island would look tiny.
I remember trying that and going all around the island. I eventually got bored and just continued the level.

>>
>>724206031
All this shit needs is 24/7 Blood Gulch multiplayer with tons of lootbox skins and these retards would make so much money
>>
>>724211734
Yeah Bungie never put invisible walls you had to pull enemies past to get hidden weapons like the scarab gun.
>>
>>724206031

>>
>>724211743
playtesters drove out into the water and got confused and lost
>>
>>724211924
Halo 3 does have death walls, halo reach has death walls and invisible walls with timecounts.
>>
>>724211765
Same. Eventually it gets boring and you probably won't do it again, but the novelty is nice. Like getting the warthog on one of the rocks near the two Hunters on Silent Cartographer and getting on top of the map that way. There was nothing to do up there, but it was fun to explore. Same with staying inside of the Pelican during the openings of Assault on the Control Room and 343 Guilty Spark. Or getting on top of the levels of Halo 2 and skipping most of the level. Just neat little things you remember years later. Games were fun when they didn't have constant barriers blocking everything you did. But with that in mind, I'll still take a flat out invisible wall over those kill zones like in Reach where you get a 10 second warning. That was lame.
>>
Halo ce water mass does have invisible walls but it's far away from the beach.
>>
>>724210613
If you just look at Truth's actions in Halo 2 and ignore most that came after, which was designed to iron out the Halo2/3 problems, it is very clear he knows the Great Journey is a lie.
>I have listened to the Oracle, and confirmed our deepest hope. The Great Journey begins with Halo
The prophets did actually talk to 343, and 343 immediately confirms to Tartarus later that Halo is a WMD designed to wipe out all sentient life.
>The parasite did not defeat the Forerunners... and it shall not defeat us.
He should know at this point what actually happened.
>Whosoever is gripped by fear, take heed. I am the Prophet of Truth. ...And I am not afraid. Noble Mercy is here at my side, his wise counsel ever in my ears.
This is after he watched Mercy get FLOODed and stopped Tartarus from helping him.
Then you have things which indicate they knew the truth even earlier. We know in the original trilogy that humans were supposed to be the Forerunners. The prophets JUST SO HAPPENED to order the Covenant to wipe out the last trace of the actual forerunners.
>>
>>724212095
>I'll still take a flat out invisible wall over those kill zones like in Reach where you get a 10 second warning. That was lame.
It's similar to how Subnautica pushes certain player actions. They debated what to do when a player kills a non-resource animal and they figured that nothing happening would be the best, the animal just dies and floats down the bottom of the sea. It didn't punish the player for going against dev wishes, but the lack of reward told them that it wasn't intended without the player feeling frustrated. Hitting the wall hundreds of meters out of the level on Silent Cartographer was the same.

>prophet of truth
Truth got fucked over in the script the most due to everyone on Halo 2s officially credited writing team was doing something else at the time. H2 Truth plan was to go into the ark, which was like a sarcophagus not a mega structure in the original ending, he wanted to wipe out the galaxy while inside the ark as then the galaxy would have been reborn in his image.

Microsoft loves projects running on a revolving door of contractors, which obviously means it's impossible to use in-house tools like a game engine. That one's not 343's fault.

>>

Why did they think remaking a game, let alone one they already remade, was a good idea knowing their fanbase critiques their games with a fine tooth comb?

Why are they even remaking CE again? Why not Halo 3? They could bundle it in with an ODST remake as well. Heck, Reach deserves a remake before CE again.

The thing that bothers me about these remakes is that they change shit that doesn't need changing but they don't add new stuff that can be fun.
I always try to keep as many marines alive as I can. In silent cartographer there's a moment in the last part where the marines you left on the beach are being attacked while you complete your task, and you are told that you can't do anything to help them and that they'll distract the covenant for as long as possible?
You know what would be fun? Having a hidden timer and if the player rushes to help them anyway before the timer expires you save them and they are waiting for you at the end when you board the pelican, and maybe you can take some of them with you. Also they should have any marines left alive board the pelican with you as well instead of staying, I never liked how they stayed in the original. But they won't do those things, because they suck.

Also, post pictures of Cortana please.

I would love to know the thought process behind putting waypoints on fucking obvious things.
Did too many playtesters see the warthog drop and just wander off without it?
Why not just implement some kind of doofus mode that is enabled once the game detects a player has a room-temp IQ which slaps yellow paint and big arrows on everything?
I suppose that would require slightly more work than necessary though, wouldn't it?

>>724216849
the ocean is already an effective barrier though, similar to a cliff edge. Smart gamers like us can intuit what will most likely happen if we go there, and putting invisible toddler gates everywhere just feels insulting.

>>724212095
RETURN TO THE BATTLEFIELD warnings are awful and it's a shame that they can't just put in a little more effort and either make sure those areas are blocked off properly, or kill the player in a way that makes enough sense to send the message. Even the lazy solution of sticking some turrets or mines outside the play area is better than getting an obnoxious telling off.
