Colombo game in the style of L.A. Noire where you have to point out contradictions in a suspect's words and actions. Gianni Matragrano does the voice. Yea or nay?
>>
it would be a pile of shit you fucking fag
>>
The only mystery you amerimutts can create is your own genetic composition
>>
>>724208389
That sounds fine, but you gotta understand that with the game being set in LA it'd be kinda woke. Now I don't really invest myself in it either way but my wife is a big fan of the LGBT community and she says the only way to do it right is more pride parades.
>>

Are you marketing it towards 60 year olds?

Japan would like it.
>>
>>724208620
Columbo is as relevant today as Mickey Mouse.
>>
>>724208389
Nay
A big part of what makes Columbo interesting is that (You), the viewer, have already been shown exactly what happened and now get to watch Columbo crack the case with a full understanding of WHAT he's figuring out
Making it into a typical whodunnit mystery game would take away what makes it unique, and at that point what's the point of calling it a Columbo game?
>>
>>724208656
I've actually never watched it. Is it good? And how old are you?
>>
reminder this is a forced jidf meme because the actor is extremely jewish
>>
>>724208816

the show ran from the 60s to the early 2000s (factoring for hiatuses)
not only is it good, but it invented a new kind of mystery show. Instead of a whodunnit, it's howcatchem. The audience already knows who committed the crime, we get to watch as Columbo picks apart the coverup and hoists the culprit by his own petard
>>
I don't think Columbo really works as a game.

there are two pilot movies that predate the main series (Prescription Murder and Ransom For a Dead Man) and while they're good on their own, it's clear they're still feeling out the character
so there's nothing wrong with starting at S1e01 Murder By the Book (directed by Steven Spielberg of all people)

the same applies to Phoenix Wright. You'd still have to put together the evidence against him
>>
I think my favorite episode was the one on the cruise ship since he was totally on his own. There was no "I called the lab boys and blahblahblah". He had to make due with just the resources on the scene and no professional help. It was a nice change of pace.

>>
>>724209526
Phoenix Wright is like that. You don't get the murderer immediately but pretty early on and most of the time is spent incriminating that one person while they try to deflect to others like your client.

A Columbo game could also be different than the show. The show reveals the murderer to the viewer but not Columbo so if the game has you controlling him then it's fair to say you can only have the same information Columbo has.

>>
>>724208389
I would love this but i have 0 clue how to keep the premise while having it be a fun game. The premise of columbo was that we yhe audience already knew how the murder happened, and we watched how the culprit fumbled their own narratives by understimating columbo and folded by him asking the right questions that poked holes in the right places.
I dont think playing as columbo would have the same satisfaction as the tv show has, and if you just do your average "collect clues and figure it out yourself" that most detective games have, youd miss the premise of the show.
Id honestly would rather have the resources that would go to a potential columbo game instead be spent on an animated series.

I think that I have stumbled upon an inspiration for the whole Columbo series and his character. It's a Hitchcock's "Dial M for Murder" (the title itself is distinctly Columbish btw). A must watch for Columbo fans although I am not a huge fan of Hitchcock in general. My favorite movie of him - and one of my most favorite movies ever - may be The Trouble with Harry (its a dark comedy), although Dial M is also very good.

>>
>>724208389

L.A. Noire's main mechanic was trying to find out if the person you're speaking with is deceiving you or not. The whole premise of Columbo is that you the view knew who committed the crime from the very beginning, so it was a matter of seeing how Columbo got to that conclusion and how he fooled the killer into incriminating themselves. That dynamic is impossible to replicate in a video game because you're controlling the person you have to see achieve the revelation you already have, so all you can do is make a game around the dynamic of trying to fool the killer into revealing their crime, which isn't hard since you know how the crime was committed.

>Watch the clip again
>Notice the entire time that Columbo is laying out what happened, he has his hands in his pockets and never takes them out
Are all episodes like this? Where I feels I need to watch them more than once to catch everything?
Cause if so that's kino.

The earliest episodes are like that, it starts running out of steam and becomes a self-parody by the end of the first 7 seasons (but is still hard carried by Falk and his guest star being great) and the ABC revival is very hit and miss with more misses than hits.

Come on man, Monk was way to close to the case, taking a bunch of time off / quitting the force because of trauma, and it's clues went extremely cold during the interim of his break.
Kira is very active throughout Death Note, Light doesn't take a break. Monk would catch on.

I think Halligan would instead start scribbling down random nonsense, like his grocery shopping list. But he then takes a liking to some named brand, and somehow winds up killing the owner of his usual stuff.
Pray for Al's safety, pitza is at stake.

His tie knot being off-center greatly disturbs me.

He finds lost pets. He doesn't solve real crimes.

Rated M?

Light takes multiple breaks. He just has misa or somebody else fill in during the down time.

Jesus, how was this allowed on TV?

I really think the main reason Columbo works is because you don’t know what he’s up to or what his plan to catch the killer is 90% of the time. Essentially, he’s portrayed as a benevolent cryptid who exists solely to psychologically torture the killer. I don’t know how you’d translate that into a game.

know how you translate that into a game.

You're the killer and have to fool Columbo. Hardest game ever made, rumors of a "good ending" where you beat him circulate for decades with no proof.
There actually was a game like that for Kindaichi, japan only of course and not even a fan translation

Columbo is quite the sly one.

I genuinely can’t watch any movie starring Peter Falk because I associate him too much with Columbo. It’s hard to see him play any other character and not see Columbo, so it becomes distracting.

It’s weird because I’m not like this for any other actor/actress.

The first clip i saw was the "you identified the camera" bit. It's probably the perfect 5 minute distillation of the whole of the show. Columbo playing the fool, the culprit playing the innocent noble right up until he takes the bait, and then "Were you a witness to what he just did?"

Many people loved the series - it was unique and really endearing.

Most of the early works is Really Good - very talented people doing what they did best.
Later on it was not that good anymore but still enjoyable. Different times.
