Why do Japanese devs hate their old creations?

Not just Capcom with the OG Resident Evil games, but even Eiji Aonuma says the only reason he can think of for people to play the old Zelda games are nostalgia.

What do they mean by this?
>>
>>724208654
they aren't making money on them
they turn very prideful when they are promoting a rerelease or nintendo online release
>>
They're soulless business men. Their job is to berate and shame the audience for not mindlessly consuming the new product. They'll literally call them evil people for liking the older product.
>>
>>724208654
I think some people just look back on their old work as amateur, unpolished, and bad. I do it all the time with music things I've worked on or older chunks of doom levels that I end up replacing with new chunks, only to replace those after a year and not publishing it anywhere. When you're an artist, or designer, or musician, or whatever creative medium you do, you end up always looking at your old stuff and going "I could have did a better job". Alternatively, some people just genuinely don't understand what people like about the stuff they made in the past or became casuals themselves over time.

Marketing. The devs that worked on the remakes aren't the same talent that worked on the original games.

NuCrapcom cares about money only; they got a fortune on shitty assetflips for nostalgic normies. And funny enough, looks like current devs just hate those old games
>>

They can't make money on them it's too late.

There's an end to end Randomizer of all 3 games floating around on the internet.
There's a enhanced texture pack cracked version of the games floating around on the internet.
There's countless rom sites and your toaster can emulate the games.

Capcom make lots off the re-releases of Remake, 0 and probably even CVX but the trilogy was to readily available and too unpolished for 40" hd tv.

People only buy them so the can say "yes, I pirated the game but I own a legal copy".
>>
>>724208654
They want you to give them 70 dollars instead of 3, so they will remove the originals
Also the originals are the evidence how their new shit is soulless
Fuck capcom

But their remakes are dogshit. I am not a diehard fan of the original, but they had an atmosphere and were fun to play. The only atmosphere remakes offer is too long, too boring, too serious Netflix movie

>There's an end to end Randomizer of all 3 games floating around on the internet.
I'm assuming you mean each game individually but I'm having the mental image of all three games bolted together with every door leading to a random room and every item drop being anything from the three games.

Resident Evil betrayed its roots as a survival-horror-puzzle game long ago. They thought they'd make more money by making it a zombie shootan gaem they don't want you to play the old games just shoot the zombies and laugh at how that wacky Umbrella Corp is behind EVERYTHING
>>
>>724210676
That would be awesome.

I really hate these Japanese trannies.
>>
>Japanese devs
the japanese devs weren't the one saying that shit in the article, company pr was. and a companies goal is to make money. of course they'll want their newer products to be at the center of attention
>>
>>724208654
Because video games are not art, they're children toys which become obsolete over time
>>
>>724210676
I don't even normally play randomizers, but going through that would be insanely fun
>>
>>724210676
There was some open source substitute for the engines, OpenResident, that in theory, should allow this, but I have never seen a working build so idk
>>
>>724211675
you could say the same for old english books/plays that aren't easily digestable for modern audiences, or black and white films that 0.0001% of people ever watch in full.
you are right in the sense that most gamers themselves treat it as a toy, but are the first to be angry when someone else says it's not art
>>

>Why do Japanese devs hate their old creations
Anyone who creates anything does that. It's not limited to devs or Japan. Though in your picture's case I find it unlikely GOG's representative spoke to any of the people who actually worked on the games, and only contacted a marketing and licensing employee who never even played them.
>>
>>724214281
It's bullshit, every author has some regrets, but only retards hate something. Game dev is a collective work and it's a little miracle when in the end you get something great
>>
>>724208981
except in gaming all of the old stuff is light years better than newer games and modern programmers and devs can't program or develop for shit
retards can't even do mirror reflections when games from the late 90's did it perfectly, garbage ass retarded devs.
>>
>>724208654
they have a shockingly small minded salaryman outlook, that's the answer
>that old thing? how do you even play? do you track down dusty cd cases? BUY MY NEW GAME!
they aren't able to comprehend someone going back to experience old media outside of the official retail channels. to them games are a physical product that exists on store shelves, they even think this erroneously about digital games that are currently being sold.
>>
>>724208654
they're right
it sells like minimal sales compared to a remake
>>
TP and WW are a million times better in every way than BOTW or TOTK, Aonuma is a little cocksucka
>>
>>724208654
Aonuma's another good example. Old foggy finally breaks out of Ocarina of Time's shadow with Breath of the Wild, and now he's absolutely high on his own ass gas and thinks the only reason anyone likes pre-BotW games is purely because of nostalgia. Can't understand the idea that people actually just like or even prefer a more structured format.

Do you hate average people making games? Do you want to cull the indie masses?
>>
>>724208654
i feel like it's for the same reason most devs dont want people playing old versions of games these days, they dont want to hear people pointing out that they messed up something or changed shit they didn't need to
>>
>>724208654
>Eiji Aonuma
A complete hack and a fraud.
OoT is a Miyamoto game.
MM is a Koizumi game.
The rest of the 3D Zeldas where he had complete control over were never able to reach those highs again.
Aonuma may be good at coming up with puzzles and dungeons, but he is shit at designing the actual games to put those in.

Yep. Japan has this weird self‑loathing toward its own legacy. Doesn’t matter how much care went into something, if it’s not making money now, they act like it never existed.
Other cultures at least archive their history, good or bad, because they see it as part of the medium’s identity. Japan just buries anything that isn’t a current cash cow, letting whole eras of creativity rot in vaults.
>>
>>724208654
I think it's a cultural thing: most prefer to update and change even historical sites because new is better in their eyes
>>
Probably cause they are perfectionist and see flaws in their past work.

You're telling me that Company wants you to buy and purchase New Product Tm instead of Old Product Tm?
That's crazy... I need a minute.

>randos
For me it's just the sheer wackiness that is randomized dialogue when it accidentally patches something semi-coherent together
