I'm grabbing the Retroid Pocket 5 soon, already building up a library of games to dump on there as soon as it comes in. Hopefully it runs most PS2 and Dreamcast games well. If it doesn't, then I'm fine sticking with PS1 and below.

Like I said, every other OS just defaults at storing saves on the ROM folder, so by just using SD2 for ROMs you get that AND they're immediately shared between cores so you don't have to manually transfer them. I can only assume they did that for syncthing purposes, never used it.
