Mel is hot (all versions), but she lacks her brother's charisma.
Not a super powerful mary sue who is perfect in every way + the moral arbiter everyone respects and looks up to + actually the chosen one who will fix her brother's mistakes. Character development is possible and interesting with female characters, but only if they don't start out fully developed and already the center of the universe.
