So what? Video games made by non-japs cannot have good stories regardless. Replacing his team wouldn't change anything.

NV babbies are mad because the medicine skill isn't a superpower that allows you to cure every disease and save every character through a dialogue option.
>>
>>724210528
I've never mentally recovered from the fact that there's a [medicine] dialog option locked behind a medicine skill threshold, which is exactly as meaningless as the other options

why?

Roleplaying. So you can have a dialogue matching your character. If you play a doctor he wouldn't say "are you okay?" He would check her vitals.
What's bad here is that all the other options have the same personality but the idea of different dialogues leading to the same outcome isn't a problem.

And also you shouldn't need to be a doctor to do that but that depends on the skill level required.
>>
>>724211432
Wait I thought Emil had said that and I hated him for that but that's the wrong guy
>>
>>724215095
No, Emil instead said that there's no point writing a good compelling story because the average player is going to ignore it.
>>
>>724215468
Alright that's not exactly better
>>
>>724214760
The point of investing in skills is not just have different flavours of dialogue, but to affect the trajectory of the dialogue in some meaningful way. New Vegas has countless examples of this, from helping the molerat in Sloan to killing Caesar.
>>
>>724210528

Bethesda is two generations behind on not just the writing layer, but the presentation layer. The way people just stand stone still in conversation, always one on one, no real nuance in their face. The appeal of their games is supposed to be this believable open world and you can't fill that with fortune cookie dialogue and robotic mannequins standing perfectly still.

I think Starfield would have been a lot better if the dimension hopping stuff was more integrated into the main story and wasn't a new game plus mechanic
I thought it was cool but not enough to play through the entire game again let alone twenty more times or whatever it is to see all the new content

Who fucking cares. They have always had shit writing and it is gotten even worse once they went all in on leftist propaganda. They are a propaganda outlet now. The point of their stories isn't to take you away to some fantastical world. It is to try to reinforce their ideological dogmas like climate change will is human made or that trans lives are human lives. If you buy anything bethesda related you are just getting propaganda. Fuck todd howard fuck this developer.

Good lord. I can't think of one redeeming thing Starfield had. It was such an awful game. I believe I dropped it after 10-15 hours and didn't even get the first "space shout" ability. I didn't even know space powers were in the game. That tells you how much I played and how far I got.

Speech checks have been turned into a minigame, you can see a persuasion meter with pips on the bottom left of those conversations, you have to fill it up within certain number of dialogue choices and the +X is how many pips you gain, the color is how hard is it to make that individual speech check (like in Fallout 4), no pips on failure
In FO4 you can succeed every speech check at 1 charisma as long as you're willing to savescum for hours, I think they tried to fix that problem here as I remember people that aren't me complaining about it, but instead of just making speech checks tied to your speech stat like every other RPG including FO3, they just decided you'll now have to pass several of those checks within a single speech dialogue option, so savescumming them would take longer

There isn't a system in place with the game for them to apply modifications to the textures like that in any way that makes sense, so the question is then

>Is it worth spending time adding some way to do that for this scene or specifically jury rigging it in some way to add blood to the bodies?
If the answer is yes, the question becomes
>What method do we use for this?
But then that question also then becomes
>If we do this here, would we do this in all similar scenarios across the game?
And then one small thing like 'bro why isn't there blood on the bodies' becomes a question of internal consistency and project development time.

I implore everyone to go back and actually replay Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim. Bethesda have never done branching quests with meaningful player choices, they're actually extremely linear in this regard. For Bethesda, 'roleplaying' starts and ends with the player's combat skills and equipment. They don't want to make RPGs, and never have, they want dungeon crawlers. The only reason their Fallout games have some choices and consequences is because the original games had them.
