this shit drops on ps5 soon. is it good? really liked the metro games when i played them for the first time recently, is this similar?
I enjoyed the original trilogy. This one not as much.
i played a bit but it didn't click for me
>>724215783>>724215834read that it had some probs on launch but they have been fixed by now?
>>724216041I don't know I played the first version
>>724216041>but they have been fixed by nowSupposedly most major bugs are gone, but otherwise havent heard much about it. The biggest draw, A-Life, supposedly has been reimplemented. IDK to what extent though.Havent had a stalker itch in a while
>>724215653It's shit made by jeets and ukranian pigs, enjoy
>>724216875>It's shit made by jeetsfr?
>>724215653>really liked the metro gamesDoubt you would like it, metro is cinematic shit where devs wipe your ass
>>724215653They're still updating it so I'm waiting for them to improve the game more before I pick it up. The updates seem pretty substantial as well.
>>724216452A-Life was never going to work like it used to in a fully open world, to be honest.
>>724215653The main thing that made it tolerable for me was that I could use cheats on PC to give me infinite carryweight and stamina. On PS5 it would be unbearable to not have that.
Was kinda ass at launch but they fixed a lot of stuff. Im waiting for then to finish the roadmap for 2025 then play again in january
>>724216452>>724219739i love how people pretend fully developed, limitless, confineless A-life was somehow a staple of the trilogy when it fucking wasnt, and only freeplay mods like cock and anomaly completely "freed" it from the limits of AI programmingin simpler words, you're all faggots and your parents will die in their sleep tonight, no immunities.
>>724220153I only played through SOC back in the day but i genuinely dont recall "a-life" ever producing any kind of profound or memorable experiences in the game, isnt it literally just the generic npcs walking around the map?
thanks for betatestingbut really it needed another year in the oven, in their war-torn kitchen
>>724215653>is it good? No. It's butchered, unfinished UE5 trash, that is still missing basic features the OG STALKER trilogy had.> really liked the metro games when i played them for the first time recently, is this similar?Partially the same devs, but METRO is linear CoD-like slop, where as STALKER is like an immersim-lite survival shooters with endless replay value + fucktons of mods.>>724216041No, they have not been. And probably never will, because MICROSOFT owns this IP now.Do yourself a favor:Sell your NoGames 5, get a modest PC built in the past 15 years, and play the ORIGINAL STALKER games, in release order. Here's the newbie guide.
>>724221313Yeah pretty much. The main thing was that NPCs were persistant so if you met Rasputin Dickfuck on one side of the map there was a chance a few hours later you might meet him somewhere else. It basically never amounted to more than occasionally you'd run across squads or packs of mutants fighting each other though.
>>724221424I played though it because when it was just bare bones patch 1.30 and found the story and exploration enjoyable enough. I couldn't stand having to go back to town to sell shit all the time, though. I used cheats to have infinite carry weight and also to make guns of all conditions sellable. Also running everywhere got old, so I made stamina infinite.
>>724221313>>724222234>i genuinely dont recall "a-life" ever producing any kind of profound or memorable experiences in the gameThat's a very subjective matter.Since it is a dynamic system, nothing is scripted. Meaning you cannot expect any big "whoa!" moments to happen automatically. That's like asking to see the Aurora borealis in the far North on command. That being said, as an oldfag Stalkan' vet, I can only assure you: we used to have 24/7 STALKER generals on /v/ back in 2008-2010. Most of those super cool and polite discussions, where people shared their cool survival stories and bonkers encounters; the "greentext stories". I should've saved more of those than I did in the end.>isnt it literally just the generic npcs walking around the map?No, not quite.A-Life is a more complicated system, that controls ALL NPCs, humans and mutants alike, across the ENTIRE GAME WORLD, rolling some requirements and stats for all of them, and playing out an TTRPG-like encounter when two opposing factions face in the "offline" mode, far away from the player. Not only this, but in the "online mode", near the player that is, the NPCs also react more realistically than in an average video game, seeking cover, hunting their foes using sight and sound instead of auto-homing, and seeking aid and such when in trouble. There's dozens of videos of this online, and equally many videos of STALKER 2 lacking all of these basic 2007 functions. The sequels and mods do expand / restore a lot of A-Life functionality as well, but the core is already pretty gud. The bottom line is: the AI characters are actually roaming and interacting with the world and each other, not just "spawning in & out" like in Far Cry and STALKER 2.>>724222282Yup, you're one of those gayass hoarder fags we already had to bitch slap 15 years ago.
>>724222282The real issue with STALKER 2 is the lack of hubs. I played like 2/3 of it and there were only 3 places to sell shit and they were all near the start of the game and close to each other. They really should have added a few more friendly camps towards the western part of the map.
>>724222234The main complaint regarding the lack of A-Life in S2 seems to be that players notice how stuff is randomly spawned around them in a "bubble". This did lead to fun encounters, but it also felt fake. Personally I never had issues with it because I never played the other games. I had fun with the occasional Bloodsucker running into a building full of mercs that I was sheltering with during a blowout.
>>724222373You clearly have no fucking idea what A-Life actually is. A-Life has nothing to do with the combat AI, A-Life is basically just a spreadsheet and a random character generator.
>>724222416Here's all the traders in the game. I think you just didn't find them all, because it looks like an even spread to me.
>>724216041Each new update fixes some of the old bugs and introduces new ones, equally annoying. That shit should have been put out as an early access title really
>>724215653Wait until they finish the DLCs at least.Half way through the game you just run 1-2 kms from objective to objective through empty map, as there is nothing else to do and the loot is generally useless. The only way of fast travel is through guides, which are the people who will guide you to other guides. The problem is that there's very few guides, and ironically there's less guides as you progress through the game.I genuinely felt like wasting time while doing late game quests.
Reminder that they have yet to release the online multiplayer of the game, for which they already sold the content with different editions of the game
>>724222773I used an interactive online map and I'll honestly say it improved the game. I was constantly going out of my way to explore places that I knew to have good loot. Some weapons and armor are really well hidden.
>>724222519>You clearly have no fucking idea what A-Life actually is.I sure do. I've been modding these games longer than most current /v/ dwellers have been able to read and write.>A-Life is basically just a spreadsheet and a random character generator. That's a crude trivialization, but not completely wrong.A-Life indeed provides NPC-specific goals and subgoals, keeps track of various stats beyond just HP and Ammo (which is disabled by default in vanilla), and seeks to simulate goal-oriented behavior within those parameters, all while also handling world navigation.
>>724222773>>724222976I don't think a game like STALKER is made for you. It should be played as a self-imposed challenge, with a zen-like pacing. Yeah, S2 is empty as fuck, so it's not really fun per-se.
>>724223042>I don't think a game like STALKER is made for you.I've been playing these since 2008.STALKER 2 is a literal waste of time, that's the problem.
damn, really wanted to try this on ps5, guess ill wait for further fixes and dlc
>>724219642>updates seem pretty substantialif you count adding features that the original games had 15 years ago as substantial, then yes>>724222373>STALKER 2 lacking all of these basic 2007 functions.b-but the war made them cut these features, don't you understand!nevermind the game and its underlying AIsystems being less advanced than Far Cry 2
>>724215653You kill Ukrainians whole game. It's main point of it.
>>724225117>if you count adding features that the original games had 15 years ago as substantial, then yesWhy do you think I haven't bought it yet?
>>724222773>I genuinely felt like wasting time while doing late game quests.yeah, the didn't playtest 75% of the game and it shows. fucking ShoC had better level design and that game was conceptually finished in 2004
>>724225209>Why do you think I haven't bought it yet?because you can get it for free like I did xD
