Where does this sentiment come from? Dead Space being an unpopular IP killed the franchise.

Dead Space 1 and 2, despite their critical acclaim, underperformed heavily with what EA wanted, especially compared to RE5 and RE6.

>DS1: 1-2 million
>DS2: 4 million copies
>Resident Evil 5: 9.7 million units
>Resident Evil 6: 9.7 million units

EA tried to do a hail mary play by adding coop because the thinking was "two people would buy the game", and as RE6 and especially 5 (a game that was Capcom's best selling title until MHW) proved, the coop move was logical.

Also further proof of Dead Space as a failed property? Callisto Protocol outsold the Dead Space remake which also failed to recoup and justify a Dead Space 2 remake (KWAB)

To be fair, Dead Space was always shit. From the very beginning, I still remember playing the first game shortly after being done with Resident Evil 4, lmao.

DS controls like shit. It literally draws you a straight line towards your objective and it fucking tells you THREE fucking times "shoot the limbs", first with a graffiti on the walls, then by radio logs and lastly it literally tells you, lmao. So much for a RE4 "inspired game". Japs did it better, way better

>I'm just gonna kill the series I supposedly love by not buying the sequels, that'll show me!
