Are you not entertained?
>missed potential: the character
Bros, I did it, 25 years of playing vidya and I am finally good.>Steel Soul mode>Did pretty much everything BUT the High Hall Gauntlet, Hornet is as maxed out as she can be in Act 2>Even though I unlocked Shakra I'm unsure about my capacity to finish the gauntlet in my first try, it's been more than a month since I actually did it in my first playthrough>For cases like these I have a separate, non-SS playthrough that I use to sort of "run ahead" with a gimped Hornet (almost no tools, less masks, less needle upgrades) to see how I handle it>I have Shakra unlocked for the gauntlet in this run as well, but I decide to try it first without>Absolutely demolish the full gauntlet solo, first try, barely even slowed down with the two big dudes in the last wave>Wellokaythen>Start SS save>Hire Shakra anyway>Demolish the gauntlet even harder, take TWO (2) masks of damage for the entire thing
>>724219790I'm waiting for dlc and maybe reaper buff . I have 5 hours cheevo and beast playthrough left to do. yeah, I'm having fun
Future DLC outfit
>>724219790So without the silk now, will she die eventually?
>>724220549Very happy for you
>>724219790I was entertained. Thank you Cherry-sama.
>>724222297 she can eat outta hornet
>>724219790I was till second half of act 2 when game become some MMO bullshit trash quest fest so I can progress to act 3.Who even thought doing that was a good idea?
>>724219790A second playthrough is not entertaining, no. In fact it's really boring, but I can't really put a finger on why.
>>724222431What quest? The longclaw quest takes 5 minutes including thinking time.
>>724222297She has a silk heart, so she generates silk internally.
>>724222406So true AGPsis.
>>724222431there are some puzzling decisions in this game to say the leastlike making you collect twenty or whatever the number was spikes out of some random enemy so you could get the float ability, did they seriously think that was an interesting interaction
>>724220146FPBP
>>724222371T-thanks
>>724219790>make silksong thread>1 reply>page 10 >archived
no buffs only nerfs
>>724223858explain hunter crest
>>724223503I'm more surprised by how it generated six straight weeks of maxed out daily threads.
>>724223503it do be liek dat
>>724223503ppl recognized bait threads and avoided them
>>724222448hk was fun because after getting dash its not so linearthe issue is confining the game into "acts". so it feels suffocating to start the game as it chains you in pharloom at the start. there are no fun sequence breaking other than a different way to access act 2
>>724225034Silksong is definitely not a linear game, but somehow it feels like it is. Probably something to do with how much of the game is horizontal. You basically walk on a flat plane from Bone Bottom to Far Fields, then up, then straight right all the way to Shellwood. Only at Blasted Steps do you really get the sense of going up. For a game which is all about ascension, you'd think they would've employed more vertical and nested level design. I stand by the fact that the artist is the true talent in the team. I don't think the enemy / boss / level designer / writing even comes close to the art, visual details, animations.
>>724225314act 1 is linear, it's really only during act 2 that the game opens up act 1 you're basically going moss grotto - the cradle - deep docks - far fields - greymoor - shellwood - blasted steps with very little backtracking and only occasional optional areas, some of them way too hard to be tackled by most players at that point (bilewater)
>>724225314This is a good point. I've always thought that the vertical shaft in Far Fields that leads to Greymoor is the worst bit of level design in the whole game, it just feels so lazy. The act 1 map is basically two corridors going in opposite directions with everything in them connected together in way that make sense, except they're lazily connected by what's basically an elevator shaft.Reminds me of how you descend Brinstar and it leads into Norfair. The level design makes you feel like you're constantly heading in a direction.
>>724223503>the citadel>not vatican
>>724224335It broke the Steam front page upon release. It's single-handedly the most hyped indie game of all time, and it's not even close.
Honestly, Silksong is more torture than actual fun. The exploration is pretty good but the bosses..not so much. By the time you beat them theres no sense of accomplishment or relief because you've been raped a dozen times already and in the end you're just forcing yourself to beat them out of stubbornness.
>>724227270I legitimately never had a "sense of accomplishment" after playing a videogame, I've always found it a completely absurd concept yet apparently this is what motivates millions of people to engage in the hobbyis your game fun or not? I don't care about using gaming as a replacement for real life achievements
>>724219790Why did Lace 2 of all bosses get a whole ass cutscene before the battle? Not even GMS, LL or any of the act 1 final bosses got one
>>724227364I was about to quit at lost lace until I found the face tanking and heal cheese strategy with the wanderers crest.
>>724227270you legitimately need to take a break, you are approaching the game in a way thats negative to you.
>>724227364sounds like you lack part of the human experience.perhaps get checked for dopamine deficiencies.
>>724227659I spent 4 hours on that whore and only kept at it because I wanted to be done for good with the game after wasting my time doing act 3
>>724225034I've niggas beat the game without dash, there's definitely sequence breaking, is just that isn't designed for normies.
>>724227702sounds like you're a braindead fromtranny
>>724225882Wasn't HK also linear until city of tears on the same exact fashion? You do Forgotten Crossroads - Green path - Fog Canyon - Fungal wastes. And then you get wall jump, and you can go to the "good path"(Blasted steps/ city of tears) or the "bad path"(Sinners Road and Bilewater/Deepnest)
Apologize.
>>724219790Lace = mesugakiHornet = nopan
>>724224335Is the hyped sequel to a game that has sold over 15m copies that pretty much made the metroidvania genre mainstream, and by itself it had 6 years of hype behind. Obviously now that the gamers have beat it and the normies were filtered, discussion has been dying.
>>724228068Unironically Hornet should apologize to him.
>Finished Silksong>Go back to Hollow Knight>Have a much better timeHuh. I thought I preferred Silk Song, but HK is way more fun.
>>724227906If you want to list all of the options somewhat exhaustively, there's...Both games have a "grind for an expensive item in the first area and gain early access to a new area and upgrade". In HK it's the Lumafly Lantern for Dream Nail, and in SS it's the shrimple key for Wormways and Wanderer... but it also leads to Shellwood I think? You probably need dash, but you can skip striaght to wall jump early through a much quicker shortcut, right? Both games open up once you get wall jump, but iirc you could access Crystal Peak early with the lantern, skipping City of Tears. Deepnest leads to the tramway and Ancient Basin, etc.I'm not sure how many divergent paths there are in SS, but the game does open up a lot in various parts.
>>724228487it's much easier to get the lantern in hk because the economy isn't 100% jewish like in silksong
>>724228553This, I've never had to grind to get any item in HK, outside of the Leg Eater's charms being powered-up.
>>724228301They both like buzzaws
>>724228487You can go to Whiteward and then Underworks to get Clawline, go straight to mount fay, get double jump, go to memorium and then to putrified ducts before doing the gay dancers.Silksong structure and progression is in general really weird, even compared with other Metroidvanias, it feels more like a Open World with the side quests and everything, it reminded me of Botw desu
>>724228697>it reminded me of Botw desuNo wonder I didn't like it very much.
>>724228697it's absolutely more of a zelda game than a metroidspecifically zelda 2, it's insane how much this game live rent free in team cherry's heads and most of the design elements come from it
>>724219790>me: entertained by paying for every fucking chair to save.>also me: yes, I enjoy grinding rosaries just to sit down like some kind of capitalist bench retard.Silksong is truly a capitalism masterpiece
>started act 3>game is finally fun againlate act 2 is such a goddamn slog
>>724228697>it reminded me of Botw desuYou mean in the sorta "start in the center (Citadel) and explore outwards to find the objectives marked on your map" way?I liked that it's designed that way. Once you reach the citadel you're spending time in there running around and fnding things, rather than heading towards this other goal location. You just did that.
>>724229945Silksong is a crash course in investment. Retards (like you) are constantly scrounging for beads, whereas sophisticates (like me) buy rosary necklaces, slowly amassing a constant, consistent, and resilient portfolio of wealth. It is not the game's fault you are economically illiterate.
>>724230197Dude, shut the fuck up.
>>724229945the game would have been better if these mechanics only came into play in the citadel desu
>>724230269You don't need to drown in poverty forever pilgrim. Buy my discount one-on-one financial course and I'll teach you how to never stress about a bench ever again.
>>724229945I never once had to grind rosaries in my entire playthrough despite abandoning my cocoon a number of times. now those retarded "collect 12 shawls" mmo tier shit quests on the other hand...
>>724229972not gonna deny that act 2 turns into a slog towards the end but I ended up dropping the game in act 3 because>30 second cutscene to enter coral tower dream>30 second cutscene flying up to where you get to play the game again>3 minutes of boring no risk gauntlets to get back to the part where you diedjust got tired of it.
>>724219790>Are you not entertained?by lace? no
>>724230604Silksong is best played without engaging with Act 3 altogether. This way there's no need to engage with the embarrassing fetchquests or pathetic acts of "charity" to "help" the citizens of Pharloom before absoluting destroying the entire kingdom out of your own sheer ignorance and naivete. Even better, Lace shrimply dies after you beat her little ass the second time.
>>724230175Kinda? Is more of the feeling, with the 3 villages and the side quest, and how level design felt very "2d open world". I like it, because I enjoy Open World games, but the game is really different to other from the same genre.>>724229716I'm surprised that TC didn't add a shield with how much they fucking love that game, maybe for their next game they go all in with a zelda-like?
Hollow Knight Shotasong
>>724220549Good for you dude but the high halls gauntlet is a meme. It's not even that bad, it's just long
>>724230935the problem is that act 3 is fun and all the shit you need to do to unlock it isn't
>>724220549>High Hall GauntletI just don't get what the big deal is. It wasn't a walk in the park, but I found the Hunter's March arena a lot harder.
>>724232449It's not a question of difficulty.
>>724222136>deutagonist of HK gets her own game>deutagonist of Silksong gets her own game
>>724232545Not you, everyone else complaining and discussing it.
>>724232596Ah hell no, Lame is a garbage character.
>>724228486Opposite for me Hollow Knight is too fucking easy now aside from later challenges and many rooms feel unnecessary and too videogamey
Just got the Cursed Child ending, nice. Took me about one hour and a half
>>724228486I prefer HK overall but holy shit the Knight's movement is so much more primitive and sluggish. Piloting Hornet is like being in a fighter jet while piloting the Knight is like trying to climb out of quicksand.
>>724232596I doubt it, I think they are done with this, I hope they just make some meaty dlcs as promised and move on before they ruin their streak of 2 near perfect games (for me) with a shitty sequel
>>724233139I like how the Knight moves a lot better, now that I've played both. He's deliberate and you always know what he's doing. I found myself stumbling over Hornet's moveset, especially as it got more complex.
>>724232449Modern gamers can't deal with high tension. such a shame, managing and stay calm under a high pressure situation is one of not many good skills they can learn while playing video games.
>>724223503>bonebottom is Brazil>every time something is built is immediately destroyed after ...Yep
>>724233252Fighting a bunch of mooks isn't scary or engaging.
>>724228301>how would you know? We barely knew him
>>724223503>I wonder if anon put my cou->sinner's roadWell played anon, fuck you.
>>724233517true, It's not about scary nor engagement. they only add up the stake and increase tension. thanks for proving my point
Yes, I beat Steel Soul 100%.Yes, I quitscummed.Yes, I beat the game.
>>724232449I mean, I had a blast with the High Halls Gauntlet. I think one reason for that is that there's a big contextual difference between dealing with flying enemies during exploration or platforming, and dealing with them in a combat arena. They're the goal, not an annoyance or obstruction. If you can't remove yourself from that "ugh fuck these flying enemies, can't I just skip them and get straight to the main course?" mentality, you're going to struggle because you're not engaged with it properly.
>>724220549Congrats anon, my last steel soul run ended at Last Judge. Let this be a reminder to all anons that overconfidence is a slow an insidious killer, but Last Judge is a quick and very obvious one. Next run, I'm going through Phantom.
>>724233641>Roaches everywhere>Highway used by the unwashed masses trying to go somewhere nicer>Home to weird fetishists who live among the roachesIt makes perfect sense
>>724235432Good luck anon, she killed me once too because I was overconfident. I safely started through Act 3 today the opening gauntlet where you only have 4 masks (so 2 hits, really) was a bit worrying but I practiced it a couple times on another save to be sureI think this is the run where I make it
Reminder that Hornet is straight, and if she were into incest she'd fuck her 2 brothers rather than her 1 aunt.
>>724226258>Fucks every single adjacent place for their own comfort, considers itself holy and the peak but is actually a toiling dying place made only to appease their actual ruler >Vatican
