why would I ever choose to die in this game when I can just quit to menu and reload outside the boss room with all my shit and no dragonrot?
>>724220961because it's dishonorable
>>724220961Dragonrot doesn't really matter, and I don't know why the game tricks you into caring about it.
>>724221003well you're playing as a tricky ninja not a samurai
>>724220961huge waste of time, but this is /v/ so you are probably a neet>caring about dragonrotngmialso i hope that fromsoft's next game is an experiment on par with sekiro, quality-wise. their next game will show us whether they still got it or will just phone it in with dark souls 5: prepare to roll edition.
>>724221032It was going to actually kill NPCs permenantly but they nerfed it before release.
>>724220961>why bother dying1. The parent is absolute
I found myself asking the same thing when recently playing Blasphemous 2, game should be autosaving the split moment I die if it wants me to actually eat a consequence for it, not when I respawn
>>724221150I played the entire game without "dying" once at the time, I also conserved spirit emblems because I was scared of running out and having to farmit's miserable
>>724221032It halts progression of all sidequests, thereby gatekeeping key items and steps for some endings.
>>724220961The game counts your death as soon as you reach 0HP, so it'll still consider it a death if you close and relaunch the game during your death animation. Alt-F4ing isn't going to save you from losing progress unless you quit right before a killing blow reaches you, which, at that point, you might as well just parry the attack and keep fighting and hope you win.
>>724221057The samurai in sekiro fight in the most dishonorable ways possible. Isshin using guns and lightning to kill you really sells him as the embodiment of chaotic and violent Sengoku era.
>>724221378just quit to menu when you have 1 hp and no estus left, no need to alt-f4
>>724221367Wish they unnerfed it.Amazing reason to replay it>now you can finish side quests>Emma has to survive the game if you want different endings
>>724221457can emma even get sick?
>>724221457What's the point of playing a difficult game if you aren't allowed to fail? In practice, that would make the game really difficult to get into.
>>724221525Yeah, she gets dragonrot and eventually gets replaced by a fucking wooden post like the sculptor.
>>724221404At no point does Isshin say anything about honor. In fact he specifically tells you that the only thing that matters in the Ashina style is victory. The methods don't matter.
>>724221636 difficulty and punishment are different concepts
>>724221197I never even considered something like that to be possible, or even now consider it to be worth doing. What kind of lower lifeform do you have to be to do this.
>dying in videogameshave you considered trying to get good
>>724221636Bullshit
>>724220961I dropped Sekiro at the final boss. I died once and realised I hadn't had fun the whole game. There is no reactive gameplay, you just repeat patterns. You learn bosses instead of learning the game and using that knowledge to beat them. I don't know how people can enjoy owl father's 'ding ding block firework, dodge diagonal right, hit, he jumps away' gameplay
>>724222036Have her get infected? Once she's too ill she's not there anymore.Of course dragonrot is random, but it happens.
>>724222104She cannot get infected, nigger.
>>724220961what's the best ending? i liked the purification one the most. return looked like sequel bait and seemed too oblique but maybe i just didn't get it. shura would be absolutely amazing if the game gave you a completely different storyline from that point onward instead of ending the game abruptly (like act 2 in the witcher 2)
>>724220961>save scummingyou didn't beat the game
>>724220961Time.It'll be even quicker if you get a mod for no shit lost tho.
>>724220961I can't even get passed the fat fuck drunkard dude fuckkkkk
>>724222090kek
>>724227023Just go to the hut on the side of the arena, kill mobs there, sneak behind one of the shield niggers and backstab him, kill the rest of his bros while avoiding him, after they are all dead run away and deaggro him, then when he starts coming back backstab him and skip his first phase. in the second phase use all of the time he buffs his sword, drinks from his flasks, or breathes at you to whack him. really easy.
>>724220961Sekiro never clicked for me but I wish it did. Started a new game like 4 or 5 times now and never really gave a shit
>>724228032It has better gameplay but doesn't have nearly as much charm or staying power as soulsbornering. Isshin is also a bit overrated but conceptually he's probably the best boss they've ever created.
Isn't Sekiro for people who love the parry part of From Software games? Isn't Sekiro just parrycore? Isn't Sekiro combat 95% parry parry parry?
>>724227817Ughggh. Thx
>>724221557Because some people are incapable of thinking through the process of “git gud”. You just should be good from the start
>>724223941Purification is the best from a narrative and thematic standpoint
>>724228247Parry, mikiri counter, and jumping sweeps are all necessary. Interestingly, tools and combat arts have their greatest utility in subsequent playthroughs, not counting obvious counters like using the ax against shields. Once you are familiar with the flow of combat you can start using them to create new openings and interrupt some attacks without needing to parry. When you get good at it, everything in the game is funneling you towards being as aggressive as possible.
>>724221457>replayim so fucking mad i chose the ending that locked me out of a fifth of the game fucking Japanese autists i didnt give a shit about that annoying kid and nah i dont have the patience or time to replay this shit and have it be even harderat least i also got to murder that preachy bitch though
>>724228247If you're using multiple combat art mod u can overwhelm enemies by constantly attacking and they're the one parrying
>>724229158Shame that most of them were bad or extremely situational. >firecrackers rule, easily the best prosthetic>shuriken for lady butt>spear for ape>umbrella for demon of hatred, maybe hotshinnever felt the need to use anything else. When it comes to swordplay ichimonji easily mogs everything else, except for mortal draw maybe (didn't really use it but it seemed powerful)
>>724228247it's a back and forth between you and the enemiesif you're constantly parrying you're playing it wrong, you should always be on the attack until you force a parry from the enemies
Hesitation is defeat
>>724229815>shurikens are useful for basically every fight in the game, especially with chasing slice>sparking ax does more damage than ichimonji, and it's in an arc around you with a follow up attack>sabimaru first attack is quicker than your normal sword slash so you can use it to interrupt certain attack chains>umbrella simplifies a lot of encounters with ranged enemiesThey are situational and are never going to completely trivialize a fight but saying that Sekiro's combat is "just parrying" belies either ignorance or an unwillingness to engage with the mechanics.
I beat sekiro without using any tools and it was more fun that way tee bee aitch
>>724230570If you only beat it one way, how would you know?
I don’t even remember what dragon rot was? It had like no effect on the game for me
