I found myself asking the same thing when recently playing Blasphemous 2, game should be autosaving the split moment I die if it wants me to actually eat a consequence for it, not when I respawn

The game counts your death as soon as you reach 0HP, so it'll still consider it a death if you close and relaunch the game during your death animation. Alt-F4ing isn't going to save you from losing progress unless you quit right before a killing blow reaches you, which, at that point, you might as well just parry the attack and keep fighting and hope you win.

I dropped Sekiro at the final boss. I died once and realised I hadn't had fun the whole game. There is no reactive gameplay, you just repeat patterns. You learn bosses instead of learning the game and using that knowledge to beat them. I don't know how people can enjoy owl father's 'ding ding block firework, dodge diagonal right, hit, he jumps away' gameplay

what's the best ending? i liked the purification one the most. return looked like sequel bait and seemed too oblique but maybe i just didn't get it. shura would be absolutely amazing if the game gave you a completely different storyline from that point onward instead of ending the game abruptly (like act 2 in the witcher 2)

Just go to the hut on the side of the arena, kill mobs there, sneak behind one of the shield niggers and backstab him, kill the rest of his bros while avoiding him, after they are all dead run away and deaggro him, then when he starts coming back backstab him and skip his first phase. in the second phase use all of the time he buffs his sword, drinks from his flasks, or breathes at you to whack him.

It has better gameplay but doesn't have nearly as much charm or staying power as soulsbornering. Isshin is also a bit overrated but conceptually he's probably the best boss they've ever created.

Parry, mikiri counter, and jumping sweeps are all necessary. Interestingly, tools and combat arts have their greatest utility in subsequent playthroughs, not counting obvious counters like using the ax against shields. Once you are familiar with the flow of combat you can start using them to create new openings and interrupt some attacks without needing to parry. When you get good at it, everything in the game is funneling you towards being as aggressive as possible.

if you're constantly parrying you're playing it wrong, you should always be on the attack until you force a parry from the enemies

They are situational and are never going to completely trivialize a fight but saying that Sekiro's combat is "just parrying" belies either ignorance or an unwillingness to engage with the mechanics.
