what the fuck was the point of dragonsplague?
I have not played DD2 but I plan to. What's the gripe with Dragonsplague? What does it even do?
>>724221563Nukes whichever town you happen to rest at once your pawn is fully infected, which kills pretty much everyone in town
>>724221813Just toss the pawn into the ocean bro
>>724221873Yeah I'm aware, just explaining for anon
>>724221069artificial emergent gameplay
>>724221563Almost impossible to get these days as Capcom nerfed it into the ground after wide player complaint. I had to get lucky in sourcing it out and testing it. Fun mechanic all in all, but it needed some more work imo. Because there is a mechanic in the game to revive everyone who died actually.
>>724221069>Dragon's Dogma threadbreaks me everytime
>>724221813>>724222329Thanks, anons. I'll keep it in mind once I get around to my playthrough.
>>724221069something to do with the lore behind the dragons, the brine and the nexus, I think... But the game does such a dogshit job at explaining its convoluted worldbuilding (which retcons 1 anyway) so it's moot
>>724221069Well there's a couple of things. In my opinion they fundamentally misunderstood how people viewed their own pawns. For 98% of the players it's someone more important than their own character, even if you created it as a joke or coombait. This is why they had to nerf dragonsplague, because JP players especially didn't want to see their beloved pawn start being "evil" and turn into something else. And then you need to infect another, or kill your pawn, there aren't nice choices. Why? Did the story, did the experience need that? The other thing is that it's obviously a part of the story and foreshadowing. But, did again that need to be a part of the story? Why was everything tied to the Brine? My understanding, or feeling, from 1 was that pawns were from worlds without an Arisen, leaving the people without a will or shape even, and the Arisen forged a "thing" like that into (eventually) a real being. Something like that, that's just my take. DON'T explain it, don't explain stuff like this ever, let people form their own vague notions and their imagination wander. Yeah no it was brine, they're brine. Brine brine. World is governed by brine, there's a mega brine dragon too.
>>724221069It was a nod to corona virus which was happening at the time
Dragonsplague represents free will in a world where everyone, including the player, is bound by fate and destiny. Pawns, when infected, begin to ignore your commands and act out of line for a Pawn because they are being 'contaminated' by free will.Free Will vs Destiny is an important part of DD2, hence the secret ending wherein you fuck over the destiny of the world by breaking the infinite cycle when you use the dagger on Grigori. You are punished for stepping out of line. It's all one big analogy about the creator's time working for Capcom.
>>724221069It’s part of the game’s theme about how the world itself demonizes free will and deviation from the “intended path” which is itself a meta commentary from Itsuno about working for capcom and about the stagnation of the vidya industry in general.
>>724221069It's an allegory for AIDS
Anyway am I the only one who actually liked 2 better than 1? The vocations and skills feel better to use, the expanded core skills make the vocations feel more robust even if they drop from 6 weapon skills to 4, the pawns are less retarded, the world is larger with more biomes and dungeons, there’s more monster variety (not counting bbi) and they have more randomized spawns, there’s more variety in the quests, and there’s more involved traversal and exploration.Yeah the story was worse but nobody was playing this for the story. I think the game just fell short of everyone’s (merited) sky high expectations.Actually go back and play the base game of DD1 and you’ll notice how much of an improvement 2 was.
>>724221563>>724221813>>724222329I played the game for 100 hours straight on release and never saw an infected pawn. only ever read about it happening to people in the threads.
>>724228453Less vocations. Re Engine makes this game feel horrendous.>Yeah the story was worse but nobody was playing this for the story.Kill yourself.
>>724221069'twas merely a lark
>>724228695even if you don’t count the warfarer it has the same number of vocations, and 2’s vocations are much more distinct from eachother
>>724229071NTA but to me DD2 vocations are less enjoyable especially when you have things like the sorcerer being massively gutted compared to its DD1 iteration
>>724222538they're always going to come with a sense of melancholy after 2
>>724221069I nuked Battahl on purpose because I keep getting Menalla as my beloved, I still got her
>>724230941imagine not wanting the kitty pussy
>>724221069Who the fuck knows? The game isn't even finished and had schizophrenic design choices presumably because of meddling or disagreements between staff. Playing through the game reminds me of Dark Souls 2 and the threads where people talked about cut and unfinished content, like how the game used to have a proper lighting system with actual darkness. The quirky mechanics in DD2 are probably the same, they could've been something more but we'll never get to experience what the devs had in mind and it's probably for the best if we don't know what we missed out on.
>>724221069>Just bought the game on sale a few days ago>Actually having a blast exploring the world with my merry band of pawns and switching out vocations for a change of pace >Now poured almost 100 gameplay hours alone on Vermund with mods while holding off on doing main quest purely cuz I'm an autistic mfI must confess, I came in blind knowing the reviews were bad but the game is honestly quite enjoyable for what it's worth. The variety of side quests kept me busy, though some of its execution were quite terrible if not for the last inn save function. And I haven't encountered the dragonsplague as of yet. Is it that rare to get an infected pawn?
>>724221069Like the caves littered across the map, and the Trickster class. No point at all.
>>7242284532's better combat and explorations sells it for me. I do miss some of 1's vocation stuff, but shit like armor layering was a fucking nothing burger and I laugh at everyone that "legitimately" seethes over it, that ant the height slider which only pedos cared about.
>>724221069I don't have any desire to play Dragon's Dogma 2. I just stick to making bishonen in DD:DA.
>>724232408>A game having content doesn't matterLmao retard
>>724232837Oh you're a fucking idiot, too bad. The height slider was more freedom, I could make all the Amazon mommy and young strapping lad pairings I wanted. People actually okay with losing customize features should have their video game privileges revoked.
>>724228453I couldn't stand the fact that the game looked uglier than DD1. Higher fidelity, but the colors were all sludge browns.
>>724228453>The vocations and skills feel better to useNo they fucking don't. I've played DD1 for 11 years and DD2 for over 100 hours, the latter's combat feels infinitely worse in every way. Warrior got the biggest nerf with how absolutely sluggish it feels and the hitstop feeling shitty. Nobody can look at Archer getting most of its skills be fucking blight equips and say that's an improvement over what Strider, Ranger, and Assassin had for bow skills. Splitting thief and archer into their own thing was stupid, magick archer was made worse, and mystick knight's replacement wishes it was as cool functionally. All in all the vocations are limited as fuck and limit your overall party composition since the game expects you to be in a team of four. I don't care playing the game solo (because that's a terrible idea in 2 to begin with when rust weapons don't exist), but the idea just going through the adventure with only my pawn and me is shot to shit because DD2's vocations locking everyone to only one weapon type means you can't possibly compensate for everything like you could in DD1.>Actually go back and play the base game of DD1 and you’ll notice how much of an improvement 2 wasYou talking the original 2012 release? It's still better than DD2, and honestly it makes the latter look even worse because the latter reintroduced a number of design choices people hated the first time around that were fixed in Dark Arisen the following year. And guess what? DD2's fixes to those problems are still inferior to what DD1 did!
>>724228575Happened mostly to people who used other players pawnsi did get a laugh a ton of chinese named ones designed their's in a way to hide to glowing red eyes to troll people using them. think they also ended up nerfing the % by the time i was done with the game because people kept crying online
>>724221563When you are fighting the dragon there is chance it will infect your pawn with dragonsplague, this can also happen when someone borrows you pawn. What it do is make you pawn going crazy over time being more agressive rude and not listening to your commands and finaly whe you rest in town/village pawn will kill everyone overnight. As bad as it sound there was many way to prevent it, but what happened was few retarded Youtubers made made ThIs MeChaNic cAn LitTerlLy DeSTroY YouR gAmE ! type of videos vastly overblowing
>>724234785>Happened mostly to people who used other players pawnsI was using other peoples pawns the whole time. Guess I was just unlucky, or lucky depending on how you look at it.
>>724228453No I like 2 more than 1 also but I also literally only play warrior so obviously 2 warrior is fucking light years better than DDA warrioralso playing on PC and being able to mod in armor layering day 1 helped a ton too I couldn't imagine playing this shit on cucksole
>>724232837>retard with shit opinionmany such cases
how to download GTA 5 for free?I wanna play it but I don't have money
