Is gaben just senile and letting someone else run steam?
Better backup your rented games soon.
>>
>>724222530
is this your first rodeo?
>>
Don;t fucking post that pedophile. You are fucked because of him. Not me.
>>
>>724222530
He's probably getting ready to step down due to health problems and get replaced by some jew.
>>
>>724222530
How dare you insult my god. You would get beheaded for less for insulting god in a muslim country.
>>
>>724222530
When did he ever run it? Early 00s steam
>Always online DRM spyware
>Bloated as fuck
Early 10s Steam
>Adds p2w mechanics and social media features
>Limits your friends list and forces you to pay for more friends
>Full of bugs like an infinitely expanding cache you have to manually delete
>Valve stops developing new games starts shitting out endless cash shop skins
>>

>backup your rented games

You mean Steam does, you have no ownership over a digital license.

I said steam games not games, retard
>>
>>724224745
You should have said 'rented' 62k steam games instead, retard. Cause that would be correct since you don't own any of them.

microjews wouldn't allow it and volvo will gladly bend over to gimp older operating systems and deny consoomers their rented vidya
>>
What? Did something happen? Is Steam down again? Is this just more CS2 bitching?
>>
>>724222530
I never understood why anyone looked up to Gaben. I've never ever looked up to any of these executives. They may say one good thing but all platforms that prioritize digital-only and microtransaction nonsense will NEVER be on my positive list. The only exception is MMO type games.
>>
>>724222530
too busy researching yachts and submarines or shit as part of his new company.
steam is one of the lesser priorities at the moment.
>>
>>724225001
They looked up to him because he created Half Life, the game that popularized story driven fps games that led to the middle console and casual like fps styles like Halo and Cod and killed the old school fps games like Doom and Duke
>>
>>724225001
cause millennial nerds liked to think he was one of them when in actuality he was a business man who manufactured a fake persona to garner a cult of retards aka steamdrones to worship him
>>
>>724225303
Gaben was already a billionarie before Valve, steam was a passion project but the dude just got old
>>
>>724225303
Zoomers are so fucking bitter, and live in a world so bleak they don't know what it was like when people could still be genuinely hopeful or excited about products without every corporation being an evil caricature. You'd wish you had the EA of our time, and we wish all companies were as bad as they were back then, today.
>>
>>724225437
>steam was a passion project
Nah, it was more like his retirement plan.
>>724225303
>cult of retards aka steamdrones
Case in point >>724225529
>>
>>724225208
>he created Half Life
Proof? He was a valve founder but he didn't write and the director role at the time might as well be interpreted as a team manager instead of a creative director/head game designer. I'm sure he was closely involved on the day to day decision making etc. but there is a reason that fat bastard didn't direct shit after.
>>724225529
I blame US capitalism Japan and EU capitalism is a lot more conducive to making soulful media. Americans call all the foreign stuff "arthouse". Maybe investing more and more into things with an expectation of return only works when the creative leaders decides to expand, not the CEO
>>
>>724225529
It is precisely because of your childish optimism that we're fucked today, you gave them an inch and they took a mile.
>>
>>724224993
What the fuck are you people talking about? What happened now?
>>
>>724225935
Oh shut the fuck up. Imagine being an expert in a time you weren't even alive despite being mostly incapable of understanding/speaking English. Your entire generation is retarded.
>>724225909
You're a sharty.
>>
>>724222530
t. retarded skin fag
>>
>>724225529
>when people could still be genuinely hopeful or excited about products
Plenty of goyim still get excited to consoom the latest bing bing wahoo fotmslop.
>without every corporation being an evil caricature
This hasn't been a thing for nearly 20 years now, if there ever was a time when this was the case it was a small period between early 2000-2005, corporations have been jews for way longer and they're never gonna stop, you're wasting your breath defending the indefensible.
>>
>>724222530
what happened again?
>>
>>724226082
>>724225935
Reminder generational hatred is a distraction to get people to fight each other so they stop focusing on the real problem, the jew.
>>
>>724226353
I know you're still in your teens, but before Gamer Gate, there wasn't this two-way antagonism between customers and corporations. We weren't called "consumers" back then, either, and they could be held accountable for their bullshit.

You know Weyland Yutani from aliens franchise? The same movie that was made before you were born? The gigacorp in that movie is real. Ever heard of fucking England? Ever heard of the East India Company? Corpos were always evil, capitalism was always devilish. You are just another boomer who fell for the le capitalism propaganda. And you call yourself American and free. PATHETIC
Well I guess a bunch of idiots like you got to live life on easy mode and corpos pretend to care about your well being so it was all worth it at the end.

Steam sells convenience. The moment Steam dies is the moment I pirate all games on PC.

>>
>>724225925
You mean he never even made any of the games his company was built on? Fucking lmao.
>>
>>724229084
He failed to make a moss in half life 2 and complained about ps3 one time
Brightest coder of his generation

1. It's one of the most stable programs I have ever used. I have used Steam for more than a decade and it has never crashed on me. It's also pretty lightweight.

2. Keeping PC games updated was a pain in the ass until Steam came along and so it's basically necessary for online games. Not to mention it is super easy to install games and verify for file integrity.

3. The store has an excellent interface and it's more was to navigate than other stores like Epic or EA. The Steam sales are really good and the library is huge. I am also pretty sure GOG leaked my credit card info.

4. It has tons of features such as Steam Link steaming, taking screenshots easily, integrated mod community, forums and reviews for feedback and support, and player counts to know if a game is dead or not.

Now I remember the time when Valve made the first version of HL and they asked id software about it and they told them it's shit and they scrapped the whole thing and remade it from scratch with the advices coming from id. And that's the HL everyone loves.
>>
>>724226061
Just CS2 bitching. The update drastically improved it by making higher tier skins actually obtainable to people outside of Russian/Chinese cabals. God tier change that only loses Valve money but they did it anyway.
>>
>>724229167
Everyone complained about the PS3.
>>
>>724229084
Gaben was one of the early Microsoft employees so he was already rich by the time he created Valve (according to Grok he did code for the first Windows operating systems and the Doom port). He basically loved games and saw I as the cornerstone of the microcomputer environment. He probably did code for Half-Life also.

But now the thing they complained about with PS3 became the standard ie. multithreaded workloads on the CPU. That was the primary thing Gaben hated at the time.
But he admitted to having to eat his words later on.
When it comes to new tech the engineers always hate it for obvious reasons. You basically have to relearn what you've spent your career working on so far.
You need to excite the engineers by focusing on the promise instead of the reality. At least in the second half of the gen we saw some games that took full advantage of the PS3.

Is this another thread from console gamers who think time stopped on the PS2? I won't be lectured by those idiots who pay for multiplayer with 10MB of data on a disc. Your DRM bricks are even worse than Steam, which will outlive them and our grandchildren. When Steam goes down, I'll download free games from GOG torrents.
