>Game has multiple tools at your disposal
>Players only ever use 1 or 2 tools for the entire game
How would you fix this?

Just borrow weapon ideas from here:

1. make bosses immune to a specific weapon/damage type
2. make that boss only take damage from a certain weapon/damage type
3. rotate which weapon/damage type is effective and ineffective across each boss encounter
4. do the same with player damage taken and deflected

congrats, you solved the issue of weapon/build variety!

Is that AI slop? That's a weird mix of pixel-art, vector-like soft forms, and some very uneven pixels.

Encourage experimentation and discovery.
But do keep in mind that there's multiple different types of players, and if you try to please all of them, you won't get a good balance no matter what.

Think about your game:
Are all of these tools needed, or even that useful? What do they bring on the table?
Is the game better with this tool box of features, or would a one or two well crafted and polished features perform better?

Of course, sometimes the notion of replaying the game with self- or game-imposed challenges might be a good enough reason to leave them in (see: MGS' non-lethal stealth runs).
But at the same time, sometimes the various playstyles might be severely uneven (see: Dishonored's lethal tools vs non-lethal options).

Make them all viable in their own way. If Gungeon can do it, everyone else can too.

Force the player to engage with your mechanics

Just let me bash in enemies heads with my crowbar and have fun if that's my favourite playstyle.
Why does everyone NEED to use every weapon? Maybe there are players who enjoy only using their favourite weapon.

>Give player lmited ammo
>Make each enemy have a weakness to a specific weapon

MGS4 is probably the most absurd example of this ever. Like 100 guns, and you only you only have to use 4, and in fact it's optimal. Even more than that, 75% of the game you're using just 2 of those, the Tranq and M4.
