found out you can build your own ship, straight up starfield style no presets, havent played for years is it good?
>>
>>724222795
No
>>
>>724222795
still refuse to play it since it only got off the ground by the lead dev lying on stage to us all.

Space is inherently boring anyway
>>
>>724222795
I started it this year and it's really expensive to build a corvette. They want you to do those anomaly missions for credits but the whole Atlas story is more interesting.
>>
>>724222795
The best take you can really have on this game is it has gone from a 2/10 buyers remorse, to a mediocre 5/10 game over the course of several years. Talking about it is like talking about a shitty movie tine in game from 2016 in 2025.
>>
>>724222795
Even though this update added more parts it still feels to sparse.
Also while it's good that you can furnish your corvette to your liking they need to make all of the stuff interactable. As it is the bed and healing pods are purely decorative.

>hey want you to do those anomaly missions for credits but the whole Atlas story is more interesting.
I've never done a single anomaly mission for my corvette. I just assaulted pirate frigates and then demanded tribute for 8 million units a pop, or outright scavenged modules on planets that say there's salvageable cargo.

Just tick creative mode, this shitty visual game isn't worth investing time on the gameplay

>it's really expensive to build a corvette
You just go to any planet that says it has salvageable scrap in its description. You land, open your scanner and look for the buried pods. You unearth them with your terrain tool then mine the two protective things on the pod, then the pod itself. Boom, instantly you get 3 corvette parts. You just run around the planet doing that until your inventory and your ships inventory is full. Then you go back to the systems station and start slapping together the parts. It costs nothing. You can even trade up dupes or parts you don't like to get even better stuff, you never have to spent a single credit. Literally a free ship you can walk around in and decorate and put stations in

FPBP
Corvettes are the first mechanic in years that actually serves a purpose and isn't just a distraction that runs out of content in 30 minutes and none of them solve the core gameplay problem that exists since launch - there's nothing to do. You fly to a system, scan all the planets to see which one have biomes you're interested in, land on a random spot - doesn't matter where, the entire planet is one biome and the only POIs are the same copypasted buildings from every other planet - look around to see if the game spawned the type of animals and plants you like - the procgen is so bad you have memorized every single limb and tree type hours ago - then either make a base or don't and repeat the process with a different planet.

>Doesn't know about food buffs

Just make an anomalous doughnut farm. It increases the amount of money you get from scanning fauna by a retarded amount, each scan gets you from 5m to 35m. Takes a few hours to setup, but once you do you'll never have to worry about money.

Only because you didn't buy Starfield, the game that captured the feeling of walking on the moon which isn't boring according to the astronauts.

No Man's Sky is just 3d Starbound but more realized. Still boring though. Needs genetics added to the game to spice things up. Procedural tech is already in the game. What's adding stats and traits to randomized flora and fauna
>>
>>724223724
I give all my food to the fatty in the anomaly. It's like a gacha whether he likes the food or not.
>>
>>724222795
The game is still about walking around, mining shit, to upgrade shit, to go do that somewhere else

So no, it isn't

They have some cool concepts/features tacked on that would be great if the foundation was actually fun, but no most of the game is still just mining for the sake of upgrading for the sake of mining

I'm yet to find a worse UI in a game

>start playing the game
>randomly get a massive pirate freighter that costs 90kk for free because I helped defeat him in an event
>cannot sell it for some reason
>cannot buy a small corvette for myself because every part costs literal millions that I can't afford yet
The progression feels really weird, I just started and I don't even have a designated base and I'm poor, but I have a giant cargo dreadnought with my own fleet of other small corvettes that I can send on the mission?

yeah, its alright.

seriously though, turn on free crafting if you just want to build your own corvette, the grind for doing it normally is abysmal.

It's good until the novelty wears off, which is fast. >Gameplay is runescape-tier
>Planets are functionally identical except for the color of one or two resources (which are all collected in the same way)
>Nothing really pushing you to explore despite being a game about exploring procedural planets
>Skyrim quest markers removing what little exploration there is
>Devs can't even change this without resetting the galaxy and making the base-builders mad
>Menus Menus Menus
Farming corvette parts is ironically the most fun I've had with the game in a while simply because it forces you to actually engage with the terrain.
I think their strategy is to just slap a bunch of cool-looking things together and hope a good game falls out. It's worked for attracting a playerbase, at least. Pretty telling that most people just toggle creative to get whatever they want.
