The first game was one of the most tedious games I've played in recent memory. That said, I won't be playing the second game or any newer ones in future. I've had enough with Sony's AAA slop, I'd 100% enjoy it more watching a streamer play it.
>>724224948The gameplay is slightly better but to make up for it you have forced Atreus sections to slog through. Writing is abysmal, story is basically capeshit. Level design and exploration are about on par with the first, with some nice environments and a few optional puzzles to solve to get random junk to prop up the unnecessary RPG systems. If you found the first mid then you probably won't like Ragnarok because it's more of the same but with the worse aspects made even worse and more annoying.

Which is especially funny since there’s a massive optional region that’s quite good, but they obviously ran out of time and or budget for the main story’s finale.It cannot be overstated how bad the story is. For all the memes on /v/ 2018’s story was actually pretty good. It wasn’t trying to be complex, and Kratos felt like Kratos felt like Kratos, but old. Raknarok is doing way too much, it’s trying to be epic fantasy world-saving, which just feels dumb. And Kratos is a joke now, he happily and enthusiastically accepts every request for help, while in 2018 he didn’t want to talk to anyone and only accepted side quests if Atreus begged him to. He was a grumpy asshole through whole game. But Raknarok he has become Everyman vidya protagonist, always upbeat and possitive, understanding and patient with every random person you meet. Same personality as a Bethesda player character who always picks the [yes I’ll help] dialog option.

They took the TLOU2 route and turned the game into a soap opera, adding so many unnecessary characters and sideplots that just pad out the length of the game
