anyone use wireless headphones for gaming? modern wireless mice are supposed to be within a few ms of wired but the wireless headphones i look at say 20ms+ latency
>>724226358after going wireless headphones you can't go back to feeling that cable constantly touching your shoulder, a few milliseconds be damned.
I'm leaning towards wireless for my next pair but I have horrible memories of the battries dying at the worst time imaginable while gaming.
>>724226457yeah that's how i feel with my mouse, people say you don't feel the wire but once you try wireless it definitely feels like there's more free movement. but audio is a bit different since people usually feel changes in that more than with physical movement.
>>724226484modern ones seem to have pretty long battery life and quick charging where a 5 minute charge will give you another hour or two if it runs out
it gets retarded looking at wireless headphones how many dont come with a 2.4ghz dongle for low latency desktop useaudeze maxwell reigns supreme still I guess
The primary consumers of wireless headphones use it for their phones via bluetoothProper 2.4GHz wireless will never be a priority for these products
>>724226358wireless niggers get the rope
just get the wire and have the cable come from behind your chair. don't be gay
No I will use my HD600 until I die
>>724226552Then maybe I shall overcome my fear and give them one last chance
>>724226358I like getting up to piss and being able to hear my team mates screaming at me for being afk
>>724226358i like wireless because my bathroom is on the other side of the wall to my computer room, so i can shit without pausing whatever i'm watching.i swapped the shitty 500Mah lithium cell for a 3 stack of 2000 mah AA batts, sure i dont get the low battery warning, but it lasts 4 times as long.wired headphones are great if you don't plan on standing up at all, but i tend to roam between my PC, painting table, and 3d printer/electronics bench.
>>724226509wireless mouse is a no-brainer as well, and with low update frequency it can go days without needing to be charged.i don't think i will ever go wireless keyboard though because of privacy (transmitting passwords and everything else I type isn't a good idea), plus the keyboard is stationary most of the time anyway.i think i wouldn't notice audio delays unless approaching 100 ms. modern bluetooth headsets should be able to go below that (higher version of bluetooth and better codecs).
>>724226358Are you an esports fag? How much do you really care about latency? IMO comfort is more important than anything. Also the audiophile rabbit hole is really not worth it, you should always keep the volume low to protect your hearing
>>724226727Kek yeah. Nothing beats putting on a youtube video and going to take a shit, comfy.
>>724226565>>724226509>>724226358I use bluetooth earbuds / a headset sometimes, if you cheap out, you're going to regret it. There is a noticeable delay and I'm autistic enough to play FPS games where I fire at sounds before I see players or people hitting flank spots beginning to rush. Proper Suppressive fire requires no delay, and if I'm actively running out there and shooting at everything, sound enters my brain much faster than trying to visually process what the fuck is going on. Even .15 - .25 of a sec is too much for me to handle. It cripples me to the point where I might as well also be blind.
>>724226739>Hobbit poast
>>724226632
We can finally have good and affordable peripherals so there is no reason to stay wired.
>>724226358>having to keep them charged>the extra weight from batteriesYeah, nah.I'm a gamer who can sit at the screen for the whole day, but I'm not a goymer who will buy extra peripherals in case I need to swap them out on the account of battery being low.
>>724226732yeah i don't see the point in a wireless keyboard except if you really care that much about desk clutter or you're on a couch or something, otherwise it doesn't serve much benefit like a wireless mouse or headset would>>724226739>Are you an esports fag?no, i'm fairly casual but anything that causes delays annoys me a lot>>724226817>Even .15 - .25 of a sec is too much for me to handle. that's what i'm concerned about since that seems to be what a lot of headsets advertise
I don't know about Bluetooth but I use RF wireless headphones and never noticed any latency
>>724226358I have a wireless version of the steelseries arctis nova pro and me thinks it's pretty good but a bit pricey
>>724226817On the rtings audeze maxwell page they say the 2.4ghz dongle has 23ms latency and BT >180msSo when it comes to desktop use you either buy very specific dongle headphones or you're fucked.
Wired >>> WirelessI've never found a use-case for wireless headphones/earphones.
>>724227473you can own many headphonesI keep wireless headphones when I do stuff away from pc but I still want to listen to musicThen I have wired alsoI have bt earbuds also for using outside
>>724227668>you can own many headphonesAnd I do.But I don't have a single use-case where I think wireless is better.
>>724227698how do you keep wired headphones on when you cook?you sure lack imagination huh
I already have too many wireless devices. Even my keyboard is wireless, and I'm starting to find it annoying to charge so many shits. I understand how wireless latency reduction went a long way (I have a gamepad and a mouse that are basically input lagless wirelessly) but I can have excellent quality headphones for less than $200 with the only issue being there's a cable in the way.Now outside? Earbuds won. They're just much more convenient, fuck. I'm not gaming on my fucking phone, so I don't give 2 fucks about latency when listening to music.
>>724227742>how do you keep wired headphones on when you cook?Wire goes under the shirt, and into your pocket where the device is, problem solved! But i dont' wear headphones when cooking, so that's literally never happened.
>>724227772On android you have stuff like automatic delay for videos still you need a wired connection for stuff like rhythm games
>>724226358I use speakers
>>724227802if you bought a wireless headset you CAN wear them while cooking, or exercising, or cleaning, or sitting further away from the pc and not worry about wireIf you have something intermittently requiring leaving pc you dont need to think about them as they're on and you can leave without taking them off.
>>724226358i went through a couple of options and settled on Astro A50s. much better audio quality than your typical $150 USD wireless headset, and supposedly they have slightly less latency too, thanks to the big ass base station (measured 11ms on some website). i was only able to sort of detect the latency when playing wired and wireless audio at the same time, but i do not notice the difference while playing per se, and i highly doubt it's hurting my performance when gaming in marvel rivals>>724226565yea the dongle is mandatory if you actually want to use it for stuff other than music.
>>724227404I got the nova 5x and the audio latency is really low with the 2.4ghz dongle.Sound quality is pretty mediocre but then the cans cost me 70 bucks on sale so can't complain. Once in a blue moon you really feel the bitrate shitting itself
>>724226565nova pro wireless come with wifi natively, theyre like $300 though (would recommend)
>>724227901I can wear my wired headphones while doing all of those things. Why do you think I can't? The wire isn't an issue at all. The biggest issue is the battery dying, which never happens with a wired pair of headphones.
>>724228041you find it annoying enough to carry the music source that you prefer not toIm talking about wireless connected to a pc anyway, its convenient enough that you just keep them on while doing stuff. Theres no extra wires and nothing weighing in your pockets
>>724226358Wireless headphones with a wire and jack is the best setup. In shooters not hearing the bullet straight away is a real disadvantage, it's not much since most times you're not dropped straight away but it is giving them extra shots on you.Plus wireless headphones have better sound when they're turned on and wired in. Wired and turned off, wireless and turned on has similar sound but keep it turned on and put the wire in and the sound quality is insanely better.
>>724228128>you find it annoying enough to carry the music source that you prefer not toI don't.>Im talking about wireless connected to a pc anywayYou weren't earlier. But I'll let you move the goalposts.I don't ever need to use my headphones (connected to my PC) away from my PC, so again, this isn't an issue. Like I said, absolutely ZERO use cases for me.Don't know why this seems to upset you so much.
Got both. Depends on what im doing. Never really noticed latency issues I'm mostly just too lazy and forgetful to charge them so I usually use wired.
>>724226358Wireless headset with mic if comfort is more important than sound quality to you otherwise wired headphones with a table microphone.
>>724226358wireless headphones that use a dedicated 2.4ghz dongle are within 1-5mswindows bluetooth stack is god awful as well as supporting next to no modern codecs, typically much worse than 20ms, more like 80-200msthat said i eat the latency and use airpods to game with, comfort and convenience is king to me now
>>724227889But what if you end up annoying your wife's boyfriend.
>>724226358wireless anything is for niggas.except controllers. but only 2.4GHz. bluetooth is for niggas.
>>724226358I got a wired headset after using wireless for a few years. The audio quality is noticeably better but like everyone is saying the cord is driving me crazy now. Keeping them charged is easy if you just get a headset charging dock to keep them on. The freedom to piss with your headphones on is awesome.
>>724227161Is this genuinely good anon? My last two HS55 headsets have broken on the same fucking side at the hinge and I haven't been able to find a good budget replacement which covers my needs but this seems perfect. I will buy this right now if you give it your seal of approval.
>>724226714Be honest. You just like their voice in your ear while you touch your dong.
Feel change my assI am never going back to wires ever again for headphones you have so much more freedom without it.
wireless:- headset- gamepad- phonewired:- keyboard- mouse- joystick- pedals- everything else
I prefer wired for everything else but it seems like they don't even make good wired ANC headphones.
>>724229657nova pro wirelessthe only thing im not 100% satisfied with is the ANC, my earbuds are better at it (but its still decent)
>>724229515Don't project your fantasies onto me, faggot
>>724229470wireless in itself adds like a $100 on the price, so if you go from $150 wireless to $150 wired, you've basically spent 3 times as much on the audio quality. so yeah it's going to be betteri think you can get very good audio quality out of wireless headsets too, you just have to spend much more than you would on wireless, like the $250-$400 minimum to get to the $150 wired headphone quality level
>>724229729My wireless gayman headset was $20. You're spending too much.
>>724229013>2.4ghz dongle are within 1-5msthe good ones are 20ms~ and the very best one is the Astro A50 at 10msRTings.com has benchmark for tons of headphones and you can check the numbers there
>>724229787>$20 headphoneslmao you have no place in this discussion go back to listening to youtube music videos from 15+ years ago, you cant tell the difference anyway
This year I went full wireless (mice+headset) after sticking to cable for years because of /v/'s influence.I can say that if they have latency it is completely unnoticeable. I play lots of rhythm games and my performance in them didn't worsen at all. In fact the wireless mouse improved it a lot.The headset also had great quality, though I did pay a price that, for wired, would have granted even more quality. But this is not a problem to me.The mouse also came with a charging station so it's easy to keep it charged. Both it and the headset charge in the same charger I use for my phone, and the battery lasts weeks. It's really easy to keep everything going. I'm pleasantly surprised with wireless and regret not going wireless sooner.
>>724229787dont tell me how to spend my moneyi tried like 4 sets of headphones in different price ranges and settled on $300 astro a50s
>>724229827I have Genelecs and a pair of Sennheisers in my studio tho. I just don't spend more than a couple bucks for gayman equipment. It's not worth it.
>>724229946>Makes claims>Proves 0 (zero) of themuh-huh...sure.
>>724230047>guy posts his personal experiences>"proofs?"where does this kind of mindset even come from lol
>>724230117I just don't know why you think anyone should believe your unfounded lies. That's all.
>>724230027the fact that you would ever use a $20 headphone pair and brag about it means you know nothing about audio.
i tried wireless headphones for the first time a few months ago and they had all the problems i had suspected about them which had made me reluctant to try them for the past 20 years. never falling for this shit again.
Switched to a Wireless Headset just recently when my old one wired one finally gave out and started literally losing screws from how bad the plastic had broken down.Honestly, it's fantastic. I haven't noticed any sound quality drop from my end. My friends say that I sound different in voice chat but it's not too bad.The biggest thing is that this fucking thing is using some witchcraft with how far it can reach. I live with my parents still helping them keep their huge house with 2 floors and a basement. I'm on one end of the second floor, and this fucking headset WORKS IN THE OPPOSITE END OF THE BASEMENT. I've only found it lose connection if I tried to walk out onto the front yard with it on.Doing regular chores while having it on is great. And I can even hear if someone pings me on chat while cooking dinner or shit like that.
>>724230190>bragWrong.
I have some wireless sennheirser.Tried using them wirelessly for work and turned out I'd have to charge them every couple of days.Fuck that noise. It's so annoying to be in a call, and the other person goes "hang on my headphones are dying"
>>724229723You were the one sharing them.
i use razer wireless headset, wireless is so much ergonomically better. the latency doesn't make a difference. if you use blutooth buds theres significant latency, but i found it doesn't lag enough to be usuable either.
>>724226358im also in the market from some wireless headset atm, after a lot of research I ended up on the Steelseries Arctis Nova 3X/P
switched to wireless last year. There is no delay. Everyone who says otherwise is a schizophreniac
>>724230331>I USE $20 HEADPHONES! YOU ARE PAYING TOO MUCH!retard
>That discord friend who wears his wireless headset to the bathroomdude haha killer bit!
>>724230640Wrong again. 0 reading comprehension.
>>724226358Yes, I use the Steelseries Arctis Nova Elite. I do not notice any latency.
Gonna get myself a kraken V4 pro headset soonBoy oh boy
>>724230617>There is no delayThere literally is. You can mathematically prove it.
>>724230872technically there is but the point is if it's noticeable or not
>>724230923>technically there isI know. That's why you are incorrect.
>>724230872You can mathematically prove a lot of shit humans won't easily be able to perceive. You can prove shit only measurable by machines. It doesn't matter if the purpose is to be used by a human being. You won't make me believe that androids are roaming the earth you sick bastard.
takin a piss while in queue is what freedom feels like.you have to get headphones marketed at "gamers" to get a low latency dongle but they aren't as bad as "audiophiles" say because they're all brainwashed into sucking the dicks of like 3 companies. almost all of them will have a graphic equalizer so if they suck by default you can fix them.they also don't realize you can just own multiple headphones if you want to and use them for different things.
>>724230959i'm not the one who posted that but ok
>>724226358>adding more latency to windows audio stackhttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=okIpbu1tp_A
>>724231056>>724231019Ok. Thanks for confirming I'm correct either way.
>>724230723its so tiring to share the internet with third worlders
>>724231075that's why people don't notice the wireless latency if your baseline for games ( non competitive shit running at 500fps) is around 100ms of samplinghe evens says so in the video (pic related)
>>724231075Ok that's amazing, but what about loonix? Any tests done there? I heard pipewire solved everything in regards to audio latency audio quality audio whatever the fuck?
>>724230723>My wireless gayman headset was $20. You're spending too much.kys retard
>>724231261yeah, but I esports and I'm tuned for that.>>724231372No idea
>>724229787That 100% sounds like shit, a 20$ pair of wired IEMs might be good, a 20$ wireless headset 20000% sounds like trash.
>>724226358I recently went wireless, it was a great decision, super nice to haveJust don't use bluetooth, they need a dedicated channel via usb to be worth a shit
>>724231967Because all cheap wireless use bluetooth which has absolute garbage audio quality. If it doesn't have a USB connection it's a waste of money.
>>724226358Wireless headphones to listen to music while away from the PC is the best.I had an Arctis 7 for years, it was good (with a kind of shitty software), but the battery wasn't great (had to charge everyday) until the mic died.I switched to a HyperX Cloud 3 that I got at 60 bucks. It is so good and so cheap, you don't need to pay $300. The battery last for a whole week easy (14h a day), no need to install any shitty software and the sound quality is good enough for me. The mic is not attached, so it's not going to be the reason why I need to replace it in years.I can't say I ever notice any kind of latency with any wireless device I have (included my G502 lightspeed). Just don't use bluetooth I guess?
why doesnt anybody sell just the wireless radio component and let me use my iems and mic?? bluetooth fucking sucks because it only has a few low latency codecs and they only support one-way audio so no mic, the only duplex codecs sound like shit and have too much latency
>>724232309Bluetooth doesn't sound that bad, the problem is that you need a 300€ pair of headsets for it to not suck ass, while a 50€ pair of wired IEMs blow the shit out of them.
>>724226358I love using my bluetooth earbuds but the latency in my online games are quite apparent
a 2.4ghz dongle virtual eliminates all latency for wireless buds/headphones i dont know why a lot of "gamer" brands still insist in using bluetooth
>buying wireless to... sit at a desk>costs like $300 and sounds worse than $30 IEMs>all sound like shit because gamers are retarded and want muddy mid bass slop tuning
i want to see gamer bone conduction headsets with donglesi don't want to wear headphones outside of voice communication with the boys
>>724232767My new HyperX wireless set came with a dongle that I assume is that, cause it's insane how much better it is than Bluetooth. The headset has a switch to change between Bluetooth and the dongle, and I have no idea why anyone would ever switch it with how extreme the difference in quality and range is.
Doesn't Winblows have a problem with Bluetooth audio?
>>724234093>I have no idea why anyone would ever switch ithttps://youtu.be/o6ytSWFuYg0
Are there any decent wireless headphones with dongle and noise cancelling?
been using my Hyperx cloud flight for 4 years now, the battery isn't that great (fully depletes after 3 days of intense use) but they sound great, the mic is decent, they are comfortable and the range is insane
>>724226739>muh esportsThis is same shit people say about monitors. It just feels good for your media to be responsive.
>>724226632>"dont be gay">Come from behind
>>724231967Gaming headsets are for gaming, not for listening to music. A dozen people have already said this ITT but I guess you weren't listening.
>>724226565Anons buy your maxwells off eBay. I got mine for 160$ when I made an offer, brand new
>>724226358Someone recommended me chinkshit wireless headphones MOONDROP EDGE and in game mode with LDAC on they're perfectly fine for gaming. I'm no compfag speaking about single player games only.Wired grognards still live in 2003 and think the tech has not improved in the slightest since then. If you don't own a wireless peripheral you should shut the fuck up.
>>724236247Anon, a 20$ wireless headset will sound like shit no matter the purpose it's designed to fulfill, a 20$ gaming wired headphones will sound much better and much clearer with less latency than those crappy headphones.
>>724236937But they won't be wireless.
>>724226739NTA, but I play rhythm games so any kind of delay is really bad. Granted, you can adjust the timing and note latency, but every other game doesn't have that feature and once you realize how that tiny bit of delay can actually impact your gameplay, and how it adds with screen and controller latency, you don't want to go back.
>>724227889Are you insane?
>>724226358Once you go wireless you can never go back.Just don't buy the cheaper ones. For FPS, wireless mouse make a huge differenceWireless headphones is a mustKeyboard you can put it on your lap and use it however you want.My setup: logitech g733, g915 x tkl, superlight 2
>using headphonesarent you worried about getitng the gamer dent?
>>724239383Gamer dent can be fixed with surgery, the bigger problem is gamer tinnitus
>>724239616I already got the tinnitus from listening to music too loud on my commute to uni for 4 years
