>remake the same game every year >top game title for the time >easy money >for some reason you hate it (and easy money)>kill your golden goose >shit the bed >lose your jobCore killed Lara Croft — and in a way, she killed them too. The studio had an easy job printing money, and they blew it. Instead of Angel of Darkness, all they had to do was remaster Tomb Raider 1 for PS2. Super easy win: they already had a finished game, just needed prettier visuals, adjusted code, and fixed PAL stuff. It would’ve killed in sales. A TR1 remaster on PS2 launch would’ve been a guaranteed top title. For me, this is the biggest /v/ wtf.

get this -- if Core had done Tomb Raider 1 Remastered for PS2 it would have been the first remaster ever released in the modern sense. It would have predated Resident Evil (2002) on GameCube, which is usually cited as the first “modern” 3-D remake. It also would have come years before the “HD remaster era” kicked off with Halo: Anniversary (2011), ICO/Shadow HD (2011), and the PS3 “Collections.”In other words: Tomb Raider 1 PS2 Edition (2000) could have invented the idea of next-gen remasters.fucking fuckup of fuck ups and so many missed opportunities while making it harder for themselves in the same time
allegedly eidos wanted (something like) AoD and core was more like a worker/slave >Some Core staff wanted to do a TR1 remaster or simpler next-gen showcase — but those ideas were dismissed by Eidos marketing as “old-fashioned.”
>>724227890Core just did what they're told by the publisher, and eidos was retarded
