This is not funny. This is not a joke. This is some of the most vile things I've seen a corporation do. Valve has knowingly and willingly ruined the lives of countless people without a care about the consequences of their actions after this scam of an update. People with lives, families, plans, hopes, futures.
We SHOULD NOT be celebrating when big billionaire corpo suits stick to the little guy who is just trying his best to get ahead.

I hope Valve makes it so that tradable items, after being traded once, become non-tradable permanently. This way, items are either sold via the market to end-users who want them, or traded via Steam inventories to end-users who actually want the item (because once traded they are stuck on that account and no longer an "investment").

1) You're acting as if anyone cares about this little 'upset'
2) You're acting like Valve is the same as any other publicly-traded company. It isn't. It's entirely private with no shareholders to hold a gun to their head.
3) You're acting like there wasn't an inherent problem with the marketplace to begin with, once which Valve saw and is attempting to remedy.
4) You're acting like these people shouldn't be held responsible for their own actions
5) u a bitch
>>
>>724230004
not only that, but do it against the rules of the platform issuing the items. The reason they were worth so much is because they were traded by unsanctioned third party websites breaking the TOS because people thought they deserved more than the steam marketplace cap of $2000 purchases.

Valve explicitly use their "economy" as a testing ground for academics. Anyone that thought it was a stable investment market is a retard that deserves their losses.
Also the idea that Steam/Valve relies on the skin economy is hilariously stupid. Steam rakes money in hand-over-fist, they've owned the PC game distribution market for decades now

>Restrictions
>What kind of Steam Wallet and item listing restrictions apply?
>Currently we are restricting Steam Wallet balances to $2000. In other currencies, the limit will be set to a value close to $2000. We also limit the maximum price of a single listing on the market to $1800 (or similar for other currencies). You will be restricted from listing items for sale in the Community Market if the existing balance in your Steam Wallet, plus the sale price of the item(s), would together exceed the $2000 limit. We may be adjusting the Steam Wallet balance limit, or otherwise changing this restriction, in the future. Note that, if you have multiple Steam accounts, balances for all Steam Wallets associated with all of your accounts will be aggregated for purposes of applying this limit.
>
>Are there minimum or maximum sales prices for items in the Community Market?
Currently there is no minimum sales price, although we may decide to impose a minimum price in the future. Currently, the maximum price for any particular item is $1800.

But now, I fucking kneel, GabeN. You gathered this crowd of useless people, you took their money as they sold their stuff to each other, you made them addicted to it, JUST TO RUIN THEM IN THE END.

I'm glad Valve is finally doing something, but they took WAY too long. They should've done something fucking years ago, but Valve loves unregulated marketplaces far more than games. Them having to deal with thousands of deranged Russian and Chinese """"investors"""" and its repercussions is their own fault. All this does is remind me that Valve chose easy money over everything else in the last 15 years.
>>
People go ballistic and delusional when they lose money, and believe their walls of text can reverse the change

CS2 isn't holding up the whole platform, and basically everyone else sees this as a good pro-consumer move by Valve
>>
>>724234479
Valve does not interact with the third party grey markets though. There was nothing to deal with.

I don't think people understand why all the thirdies are losing their minds over this.
From what I gather, CS2 players who have these knives can 'rent' them out for dosh. Many thirdies have latched onto that, and think CS2 is their way out of poverty. All they need to do is buy knives, and rent them out for continual income.
The sudden devaluing of the knives not only means they lost a lot of their investment, but it also means the rental market for these knives has evaporated and no one is willing to pay as much to rent one anymore. Millions of thirdies are realizing they aren't just a few years away from retiring anymore, and it was all a pipe dream. Hence the nuclear rage you are seeing.
Not much different than the crypto bros who thought they would retire off of having a stack of crypto they were 'staking'.

The faggot's argument falls apart in the first paragraph when he talks about how Valve's throne sits on the stable market that they built". Most of the people throwing shitfits about the CS knife skin collapse were doing their transactions on grey market websites which Valve has no part of and makes no money from. If anything, grey market sites pose a threat to them because it discourages people from using the Steam marketplace.

This is going to be my final post /v/. I lost everything because of Valve. I invested everything into CS knives and now I've got nothing. My car's been repo'd, my house foreclosed. My wife left me for some dude who works at Walmart saying he's got more financial security than I ever will, and my kids won't talk to me anymore now that they know they won't be going to college. I'm going to end it all by throwing myself off the roof of my house. It's a one story bungalow but by God I'll make it work even if I have to do it a hundred times.

Valve screwed over the Artifact fanbase by cancelling the Artifact 2.0 beta without even allowing users to invite friends like they said they would in January 2021 and does not deserve your financial support for these gross consumer-unfriendly practices.

shit like this happened with Black Squad too, when they rotated publishers, we lost crates, we lost free gibs, they locked skins out of market, they reintroduced them after a while, still it took them an overnight decision to kill that window, now, if we want to sell skins that in the past were worth 0.50 mmuricadollas and now they are maybe worth 10 times that, if not 1000 times that amount, we simply can't, cause valofe jews are keeping skins hostages and if we don't pay to repack the skins we can't sell them on the market.

Just FYI, on 2018/2019, I literally had 90% of Halloween and Xmas skins which I literally got mostly for free, for some I spent no more than 80€.

They removed the ability to trade some of them, like an idiot I did convert most of them in game value, on 2020ish when valofe jews took charge I was selling the remaining crapload for 3 times that amount I spent, I do still have some leftovers cause they tactically banned me when they noticed I was making more money than them. When they literally put the skins as hostage we warned Valve, got no fucking response, I was planning to part ways with those skins and make 6 times that amount, problem is, the game is fucking dead, valofe jews don't deserve my money, they also added game guard which literally can't be installed on my rig. I do have a enough skins to buy two fucking Decks, but I simply don't want to
