The most interesting part of the forerunner aesthetic was how "human" it looked in contrast to the covenant stuff and how it was hard to tell if it was made of stone or metal.

They also make them too busy. Some parts should look complicated, and some spartan and plain. The art needs variety and relief from all the shit they are cramming in on screen.That particular thing is supposed to open btw, and foehammer uses it to fly underground. I don't know if adding a big spire on top is going to be a problem.

You would have had an alien faction killing humans not knowing they were killing off the people they worshiped. It was honestly perfect because the forerunner were meant to be super mysterious with only really their structures left as some of the last traces of their civilization. This was back during a time when Star Trek and Star Wars was the primarily popular sci-fi going on with a bit of other things like Terminator and such but Halo had its own unique take on this genre. Only to completely and utterly shit the bed with it when they had such a golden franchise.

>>724246237I'm replaying it now and there are a lot of reflective surfaces on the forerunner structures for interiors and exteriors, but the actual materials look much more weathered or "old" than what they've shown in the remake. The dull and not quite aluminum but not quite concrete exteriors have been replaced with polished stainless steel, and the rounded brutalist shapes have been homogenized into "halo style" angular shapes. It feels like they're more concerned with keeping continuity between entries than they are about breathing life into the aspects of what set CE apart from the rest of the games.
