You just posted it. SMB is a masterclass in game design.

Sonic the Hedgehog is way more intuitive than this piece of shit. However, a child could not easily grasp it because it is also very complex.

GTA San Andreas.
A nigger will figure out immediately that stealing a bicycle is the first thing you can do.

I live in East Europe. At my gaming caffe, a 12 year old gypsy kid got a gladiator title in WoW on a legit EU server (not those private pay to win for gear ones).
So probably WoW.

my grandma is has zero grasp of how to use electronic devices(like she can't even find youtube on her smartphone) so i tried teach her by making her play mario and she immediately got stuck
>she didn't understand what arrow keys ARE
>she doesn't realise that she's supposed to go right
>she didn't understand you could jump in a direction
>she couldn't figure out that you have to hold direction buttons to keep walking
>she couldn't underatand why she kept "loosing" when she came in contact with a goomba
>she couldn't figure out stomping a goomba killed it even when i told her
>she couldn't recognise the ? sign even when i told her its there
>she didn't realise falling off a cliff killed you
and got stuck in the first area for 30 min.
intuitive level design my ass

There are no intuitive games. Every single videogame is trial and error. This is why Souls games are so successful.

Nothing beyond very rudimentary Pong machines or something in that ballpark, because everything that came after implicitly requires you to understand some non written rules of how videogames are supposed to be engaged with
Even early Atari is too advanced for your request, it requires a level of technological language abstraction that can only result after what was at the time a decade of videogames developing on their own as a medium with its own rules

This is an extreme example but people overestimate how intuitive this game is and perhaps underestimate how much they learned from other people or publications/internet. In the late 2000s I found some older people who had a NES and still occasionally played it, they and their kids never realized hold B to run and jump further.

Has to be Tetris doesn’t it? Unless you’re a complete retard. Who doesn’t know right and left
>>
>>724237939
Most puzzle games use 1 button and left/right with basically one mechanic needed to win, so most would qualify?

If she couldn't see the question mark perhaps you need to check her glasses
Overall ur grandma sounds kinda dumb bro. MY grandma who has passed on a few years back at 97 understood "go right" means progression.

In my experience most people don't understand that you are tilting the level itself, not controlling the monkey in the ball

does this make much difference?

If you're playing the later levels absolutely

FF7 as long as they can read. It is perfectly designed to scale game mechanics over time in a seamless way and the flow keeps you stimulated.

Tons of people didn't even know you could run

The average idiot doesn't understand the depth of the materia system. Then they get to the claw monster or one of the weapons and get filtered.
>>
>>724233539
Flappy Bird. Doesn't get much simpler than that.
>>
>>724233790
Rolling when you press down while running, something absolutely essential to the game, has to be found through trial-and-error if you're not already aware of it.
>>
>>724234246
People who have fossilized in their tech illiteracy are not going to pick up any video game, no matter how intuitive. Especially one with real time gameplay. You're basically asking her to operate alien technology.
>>
>>724237413
You can jump on enemies and just stand on top of them. Literally nothing happens. What the fuck are you talking about?
