Every week I see a promising indie game, get excited about it and then see this. And it makes me angry every time. I've been doing this for years as a professional voice actor and yet they keep choosing soulless machines to replace me and enroach on my rights as an artist. Why do indie devs keep doing this?

I am constantly on the lookout for indie games and I have sincerely in my entire life only ever seen one game that I was interested in and it turned out to be AIslop. OP is very obviously baiting, as if the "Professional voice actor" line wasn't a good enough giveaway.Which isn't to say that might become a problem in the future, sure, but right now? As an Indie dev on a budget, why would I hire voice actors when I can generate my ideal voice, train it in RVC, and do all the voice acting myself via speech to speech conversion? Not only does it enable me full creative control, but I can retroactively rewrite dialogue and make additions or redactions on a whim without reaching back out to all the actors: needing to work between their availability and paying them for their services every time? It's not even a slight against VAs, it's just pragmatism and cost efficiency. I'll just do all the voice acting myself, simple as. Though it helps my game is small, so I can personally voice everyone.
