TRUTH NUKE: Its the most complex Ninja Gaiden. The addition of Bloodraven/Gleam, hot swaps, Berserk and several types of counters adds new levels of depth to combat. NG's combat was always deceptively simple, there's a thousand different attack strings but the game plan was basic. You are seeing a lot of seething from NG boomers because they've never had to deal with meter management before.

It has the best bosses by far, tho 4 does exceptionally well, I'd still rather play 3. I love the helicopter fight now, and I fucking hated it on every difficulty until my no health bar run. 3RE really starts to shine when you learn all the mechanics, and cicada surge is just insane. Not to mention steel on bone is so fucking juicy, especially if you delay the kill slightly. Berserk/flashy death kills in 4 have nothing on SoB (but they are pretty nice). But what about the common complaints? Walkingtalking segments? Total time spent doing this is maybe 3-4 minutes in a 300 minute playthrough.QTEs? They become a non issue after the first playthrough and the inputs are so intuitive and consistent that you can autopilot. I have learned that if I do at least one light attack in the air before doing an air guillotine throw I can follow it up with a flying swallow.Problem is the enemy is so far away the flying swallow won't hit them unless you do this close to a wall that you throw them into. I have found no other use for this shit.
