"Gamer girls" come in three flavors:
Girls who are gamers.
Girls who "game".
G.I.R.L.s

The first are genuinely there to play the game.
The second are like any other "Subscribe to my Channel" shitlords and most of them can't play for shit, just like any Internet Personality Douchebag guy. They only want to look cool and gaming became cool as time went on.
The third are guys who know they can get free shit by letting people think they're girls. There's some overlap with the second and maybe they actually are good at the game but they're scammers.

Unfortunately, most "gamer girl" characters I've seen tend to be the second flavor. So unless we get the first flavor and the writers don't make them out to be annoying know-it-alls then I won't trust devs to make "gamer girl" companions.
