This is probably a contentious point, but I think it's worth saying and I've been thinking about how to articulate it for a while. I believe "Pay to win" is an antequated term, not because it isn't bad(it is) but because game devs have come a very long way in the field of fucking over customers and games through greed. I have no idea what you'd call some kind of umbrella situation of "pay to win, pay for convenience, pay to skip progress, pay for quality of life, cosmetic mtx spam that ruins artstyle", etc. there's obviously a lot of different things other than straight up pay to win that are cancer

The reason I avoid gacha games is because I've been burned too many times by aggressive monetization in MMOs I was interested in. The looming threat of EoS is also a strong argument to steer clear of them
