I think the reason console games are going downhill is due to the lack of competition. The reason 7th gen games are so much better than the slop we have now is because each console was actively trying to make better exclusives than the competition compared to now where devs make games that make the most money. I honestly think we would be in a much better spot if console wars were still a thing
>>724258029Xbox lost as soon as they revealed knect or whatever the fuck it was called
>>724259570The 360 Kinect actually sold really well, which is why they thought it was a good idea to double-down on it.
>>724258029Halo in PlayStation sounds like a Nortubel tier lie but it's real
>>724258029Maybe? Sonic certainly went to shit after Sonic team didn't have their special sandbox anymore, but I think a lot of people outside of that love Persona and Yakuza. Halo was COD clone slop when they were still exclusive on the Xbone. Everyone (here) says Sony is "movie games" and that was what the PS4 let fester and breed while they were still exclusives. I also don't even see how all those multiplat games like Portal, PVZ, Mirror's Edge, Batman Arkham, Bioshock, ect would change if Microsoft and Sony weren't making exclusives for their consoles in 2006-2012.To me the current status of the gaming industry is just an extension of the enshittification everything else has. So whatever is causing that is the reason we get remakes/remasters and the use of UE5 everywhere.
>>724258029There's a reason playstation has no games was such a big meme durring the ps3s launch now they have everything
>>724258029They went downhill after the 2008 financial crisis, they've been on borrowed time since. PlayStation and Xbox have essentially become PCs. I can see both dropping hardware altogether completely in the future and going full third party. Nintendo and PC gaming, a return to form.
>>724258029SEGA games were pretty mid back in the day, Sony was pretty much always mid they just threw a ton of money at their games, Microsoft just had no creativity. Competition isn't what makes games great, it's talent that makes games great.
>>724263042At least the normie games of the time were still enjoyable to play. It's probably a mix of talent and the ambition to outsell the competition. For the time passionate devs were trying to make the best games possible for their respective systems because that was to only way to make money. Ever since executives found out that in game purchases and skins made even more money that's when everything went downhill
