Did it really deserve to win Gamespot's 2001 GOTY?
Sure, why not.
Serious Sam was revolutionary because it was the first game to truly create vast spaces filled with monsters since the transition to full 3D.It proved that 3D shooters didn't have to be restricted to small corridors with two or three monsters appearing at a time. You could create vast fields stretching for miles, fill that field with dozens of monsters, and run it all at 60 fps with decent graphics on a competent computer.

NICE.
>>724267216BLOW IT OUT YO- oh sorry, wrong guy
>>724267216Serious Sam made me proud to be Croatian, just like how well they did in France '98.

Yes. I permanently associate any sort of Egyptian environment with Serious Sam. It's a shame that they never made a third encounter to fill out more of the stuff from the prototype.
>>724267216it's funi just think it's a shame since TFE and TSE it couldn't find much room to evolve. SS4 was getting there but then it marred itself with the upgrade tree
no it's a boring tech demo, not a game
>>724267216yes it mogged Gaylo
>>724267216It's a great game, so I suppose so.
>>724267216It's a pretty fun game and as very technically impressive for its time, sure why not
>>724267524Most people didn't experience it like that though. They had the "run it at 60 and sacrifice looks, or run it at 30 and have it look alright" choice they'd been getting since the mid-90s.
>>724267216It was kino for its time.
>>724268527Why is it not a game?
>>724271914you are wrong faggot.t. played at 60 fps back then and I always was mid-end master race.
>>724267524Now that I think about it, it was basically the first "vampire survivor" or slaughtermap style of game that ever came out
