It, along with Stubbs and a handful of other games, were tapping into '50s-'60s aesthetic and the B-movie sense. It was good for what it was. I remember being blown away by it as a kid, but having replayed it recently and getting 100%, it was a fair game. Krypto and Pox's VAs are probably the high point. Still planning on playing 2 eventually.

2.5/5. I'm playing 2 right now and would say 3.5/5. Gameplay is better and style is much more soulful. Too bad it got a few censors in the racier jokes but it keeps plenty of racial and cultural ones.

Imagine how little it took to make an interesting game like this with a few unique mechanics though. Having replayed it recently because of the remaster, while I definitely enjoyed it more as a dumb kid, I found it to be more palatable than most games I've played the past 5 years.

I felt the same back in the day, I think I rented it. Really feels like they just ran out of time right when they finally got to expand their scope, so the final city is just big and boring.
The first town in the second game by comparison is already as big as the last town in 1, except its actually fleshed out and fun to explore.
