that's fair honestly, the game expects a lot from you early on. but once you get a feel for the movement, it clicks hard. it's less about being cracked with trickshots and more about keeping a rhythm going. think doom eternal if it was made by a speedrunner on a 3-day meth binge. give it a bit more time, or watch a quick vid to see how others approach it, might help reframe the pacing.

this is a trap. taking damage lowers your ranking and lowers your cap at the same time, so even if you're at the highest style rating a few consecutive hits will bring you to death in moments. Parrying enemy attacks is the only way to stay fully healed on the most difficult levels (P-2, 0-E, 1-E). You should be watching enemies and projectiles first and foremost, and doing instant-kill combos in the brief moments inbetween. Those instant-kill weapons (railgun, alt-shotgun, alt-pistol) are your bread and butter. Other high-damage combos (core-sniping, rocket sniping, projectile-boosting, sawblade traps, coins) are only for encounters you know by heart and can predict where enemies will be.

I never watch my style ranking. Weapon-freshness shouldn't be on your mind when trying not to die. If you can complete a level without dying and within the time limit, you'll almost ALWAYS have enough style for P-rank.

you can still get a lot of healing from ultrakill ranks at high difficulty levels and specially cybergrind, its very common for you to take damage and almost instantly get sent back to UK
But its not really something i actively aim for and play around. I just watch out for it and take whatever im given for granted.
I agree that weapon freshness is practically irrelevant, but the style rating should be looked at: Knowing whether whiplashing a far away enemy for healing will give you 50 or 100 health is sort of a big deal

Act 2 has the best music. I replay 4-2, 4-4, 5-1, and 6-1 just for the way the music amplifies the feeling of beating an encounter. The satisfaction of getting a P-rank for the first time while that music is playing is unmatched in other games for me.

Encore levels are designed as Post P2 content so yeah, they're difficult. Not impossible but frankly Radiant is some of the biggest bullshit when it comes to DT-like effects. How many levels have this trope? I like to think its the same two guys each time. Also I hate streetcleaners as an enemy. They have just enough health to not die easily to sawblades or splash damage, can deflect rockets and grenades, rush you down, and do such high damage that the floor is basically lava as soon as they spawn. They're basically a tax you have to pay in coins every time a fight starts.

this. I like the upgraded graphics on the levels, but the UI changes were awful. Everything has chamfers now, and the terminals/buttons look like shit now. Old terminals had each window as a physical rectangle hovering slightly above the screen, it gave a cool hologram look to it all. New terminals are a garish win95 knock-off and everything is low-resolution. You can actually see the change best in the enemy and weapons descriptions menu, everything is crammed into a low-res 2D window where before you had the actual 3D model in front of you to view.

I don't care if the person Hackita asked to re-do the UI tried really hard, it looks worse and doesn't match with anything else in the game.

I always try to make sure my railgun is charged when I know one of the streetcleaner ambushes is coming so I can just sweep them aside and keep moving. Personally, they were always my most hated enemy when I started out, but since the addition of brutal difficulty, I think I'd actually rate them at the low end of the scale of enemies that I hate.

As the other guy said, they have just enough health that you can't just sweep them aside, they're fast as hell and constantly up your ass, and they deal a lot of damage. I've never been too good at coin kills on them, personally, so it's not my go to solution.
I actually don't mind guttertanks too much. They're a huge target, they move slowly, and they're kind enough to drop health packs for you every so often. Personally, my two most hated enemies in brutal are actually filth and commandos. Commandos move way too goddamn quickly for me to be able to track, and filth are just annoying with their jump that scatters them all over the map and makes groups of filth take like five times longer to kill on brutal than it took on violent.

I really wish the nail gun was hitscan and the overheat wasnt a glorified shotgun.

There's literally always more actions you can be doing to get even better results. This means that you wind up doing more and more until you hit full mental engagement in a way that's fairly uncommon even among high skill or fast paced games. RTS games are some of the only games that can do this, but more people have base-level skill with FPS and this is singleplayer so you aren't punished for playing to your own limits instead of someone else's.

tl;dr supports playing with ludicrously high APM and rewards you for doing so and that's fun.
