SP for sure
>>

For under $100 your best bet is a 2DS. Around $150 I would say a Vita, over $200 and I say one of those chinkhelds.

playstation portal sucks ass. the decode times are awful. with snapdragon gen 2 you can use warp in apollo for 2ms decode. thats faster than xbox controller inputs over wired.
>>
steam deck and it's not even close
enough battery for hours of Slay the Spire on the couch or in bed, or if I want to play a AAA game for some reason i can run it off my desktop 4090 and stream it to my Deck and play at max graphics

I'm a deck fag, not because it's the best, but because it's the best for me. It's an emulation beast being able to easily emulate anything up to the PS2 generation.

The battery life is decent, being able to get 4 to 8 hours. And with games and emulation that require very low system resources, you can easily get 9 to 10 out of it.

I also like being able to bring it to my brother's place, connect it to his TV with a usbc dongle. and play some splitscreen games with him, when we hang out and drink.

I pretty much play 90% on the deck. For me, it works really well, but there are some negatives to it.
The main one is just that it's big and can be awkward to bring out with me, but I manage. I always have a bag with me. But it can be annoying at times.

Back is molded even more aggressively than the Pocket 5/G2 are and much more overtly knocking off the Vita

I like the Steam Deck but I think Valve has no excuse for the shoddy QC on their hardware. They're not some random chink company, it's just stingy the amount of common faults they have:
>sticking buttons
>unresponsive diagonals on D-pad caused by bad membranes
>right side case creak problem
>factory overtightened screws giving the appearance of backlight bleed
>dead pixels but tbf that's every company
>speaker crackle problem
Plus the company they contract for RMAs is garbage. Otherwise a goated device though. Love my OLED.

Oops I'm stupid RP6 is on a Snapdragon 8 Gen 2, not a G2 gen 2
>>724280697
Snapdragon G2 Gen 2 is a pretty decent upgrade for the RP5, general 50% power bump-up. Pocket G2 to Pocket 6 is the one that's not much of an upgrade comparatively

It's basically an AYN Odin2 Mini with $100 knocked off and more colors, plus Playstation stick layout instead of Xbox/Nintendo stick layout
>>
>>724278123
The deck is unironically the best vidya device I have ever bought. Literally a childhood dream system.
>>
>>724278123
why are you guys so afraid of refurbished SP for everything GBA and below? You should be able to get anything else on a modded 3ds or PSP. I don't see why you need more than a steam deck with an emulator for everything else.

>>
>>724281370
cause my original SP has lasted since release day and my refurbished SP with upgraded backlight and battery is also solid at 10+ years. The real products are dam near indestructible with nice gooey d pads and buttons.
>>
>>724281461
my ags-101s are too valuable to just throw in a pocket now, especially since they're in very good condition.
chinkhelds are great, you can throw them in a pocket or bag no problem

Steam deck 2 when it comes out is the best option. If there is a steam deck thats 1.5x more powerful than the rog ally z1 extreme chip with a bigger screen and has touchpads it would be the perfect handheld mini PC. Steam deck LCD was a nice proof of concept but it had terrible hardware specs and was underpowered when it released.

Better than the switch I suppose but that's not saying much, 30 FPS still isn't good enough even if it can run withcer 3 at medium settings 800p. Especially not $650 good for the OLED. That is a straight scam.

When we see a $450 steam deck 2 with a 1080p screen, 90hz, 100% SRGB and trackpads with a chip more powerful to run modern 2022 games at 70-80fps like elden ring, then we'll be talking

Alternatively the rog ally z1 extreme is the only other good handheld for the price

There are no other good alternatives.

Everything else is either too expensive, too low powered or niche.

The deck LCD is garbage at $350, the deck OLED is just a scam for $650 with tax tip and case.

The only appeal retroid pockets have is they are smaller and even then they have terrible stick placement, form factor and they are getting as heavy as pc handhelds now.

>t. owned a deck LCD, OLED and legion GO at one point and sold them all for a 5800X3D and GPU upgrade on main PC.

Desktop just wins. I have zero use for handhelds that dont have at least the specs of a midrange lenovo legion gaming laptop which are $500 right now and have amazing 1080p screens
>>

op is asking white men, presumab le they aren't white hence the lack of psp and a catalog of browngger coded systems
>>
>>724282614
kek i mean handheld doesn't imply outside, just anywhere that's not sitting at your desk with your pc, e.g. couch, bed, porch etc.
>>
>>724282991
If I'm not at my standing desk playing on my PC with my treadmill where else would I be gaming?

Americans don't use buses, trains and the only people who use airplanes are business people.

Even then when you get to the hotel a gaming laptop would be 1000x more comfortable for actual gaming.

The most you'd ever need is a small handheld for emulating ps1 and under on the go (maybe some dreamcast too), a hacked 2/3ds, and a deck for everything else in the world.

Anything else is redundant hoarding

Of all my handhelds I enjoyed the GBA SP the most probably, with the original DS a good second.
The one I hate the most is the PSP1000 as it has a dogshit screen with so much ghosting/black smear that most games are unplayable, especially the MGS games that I got it for.
