whats the best fatal frame game?
>>724279030i firmly believe it's 1 or 2
>>7242790302>1>3. Haven't played 4 or 5 yet.
>>724279030Thought that was Nick Land at first glance kek.
>>724280231Not enough land posting.
nah 2>3>1 the fact that you cant change the sticks to move killed it for me
You will not believe this but it's true3 > 4 > 1 > 2 > 5
>>724280380The only way out is through, boys.
The best is 2. But I like 3 the most because it's the scariest.
>>7242817272 and 3 are similar but 3 has a comfy house hub so it's de facto better
>>7242790301 is the scariest
>>724280557This is wrong>>724279127This guy is closer
>>724279030What was the true story? I enjoyed Maiden of Black Water on the Switch since that fucking tall lady scared the shit out of me with her random appearances on playthrough number 1.
>>724281964FF2 reused so many settings and assets from1 and 2 so I don't consider it's better.
>>724279030I'm playing the first game for the first time. I love how Japanese it is. Fuck that ghost with the Katana though. Bullshit ass encounter
>>724279030Depends on what you want. For me it's the first one since I love the ambience of the Himuro Mansion specifically, plus the difficulty curve doesn't fuck around. I do think the others have their merits that could lend themselves to be someone's favorite though.
>>7242827973's a weird one. I think it's the best one in the series in terms of raw fundamentals, like when you're running through as Rei or Miku it's peak FF. It's when you're doing anything else that the game gets a bit shaky, especially the Kei segments since he's by far the worst playable character in franchise history. Still, even the house segments can drag on and the miasma sections were clearly running on fumes, pun intended. Those sections were just outright out of real ideas.
1 > 3 > 2 > 4 > 5
>Best2>Scariest3
>>724285453Scariest is a toss-up between 3 and 4 for me. 3 is more viscerally scary, but 4's the one that's gonna get under my skin and maybe keep me up at night. Moonlight Syndrome's a motherfucker.
>>724280557In what world is 3 better than 2? 1 can be argued is better than 2, but 3 is tedious as fuck. Story is the weakest too
Playing the first game right now. Are the hit boxes around objects bigger than the object itself? I swear I get caught on fucking thin air all the time when trying to run around things. Especially frustrating when I have a ghost up my ass
>>7242790302>3>4>1>5
>>724282210>"What was the true story?"That Americans have no shame in feeding people bullshit and then crying when people scrutinize them for the right reasons (and the whole "American gaming was racist to Japanese gaming" crap).
>>724285986>In what world is 3 better than 2?The world where 2's combat mechanics kinda blow. Making things distance-based pretty much kills any need for skillful positioning. It's a better paced game than 3 with a better story, but the actual ghost fighting is some of the worst in the series, while in 3 it's arguably the most polished it ever got.
>>724286560Can't say for certain but it's not impossible. The first game is a bit infamous for its lack of polish.
>>724280380Acceleration didn't save the kulaks.
>>724287954I'm mostly enjoying it. I just went into the storeroom on the third night. That ghost genuinely scared the shit out of me
These games are too scripted. There are little triggers everywhere to limit your exploration and guide you. For example, the pinwheels crests only appear in the game when you visit the storehouse and talk with the white haired boy. The game already told you through those files that there are 3 in each house, but you NEED to trigger through dialogue with a NPC so they appear, otherwise there will be nothing there. There are literally hundreds of little scripts like this in these games. It is not a very organic franchise.Plus, Fatal Frame 2 has absolutely awful combat with zero difficulty. Distance-based combat was a terrible decision. Only Zero Shots do actual damage makes the combat very reactive, which is aggravated because a lot of enemies are insanely slow and barely attack you so you need to wait a lot to "counterattack" them.
I started 1 with undub patch but I ran into a door puzzle with kanji so I gave up cause couldn't be assed to get my notepad out and copy the journal notes . Overall wasn't digging the game, spooky music but not scary once the stilted camera combat happens
>>7242790302 but all of them are worth to play. Really amazing series. And remember, play 1 before 3, those are the only ones that are actually strongly connected
>>724279030I was gonna download this and play it over the next few days. is it actually good and scary? or just gay and outdated?
>>724292528I need a legit actually scary fucking game. silent hillf is for ga
>>724292582ys
>>724279030I would say 3. Fatal Frame is a tough series to rank since they all have strengths in their own way.
>>724292528>GoodYes>ScaryHas lots of fucked up stuff but answer this, do you really get scared by playing video games? That has more to do with your mindset, not your expectations or the game itself
>>724292279It's the current year, anon. Take a picture of your screen
I finally want to play 3 but my tolerance for low frame rates has gone down in years, is there a 60 fps patch?
>>724294548If it's that much of an issue, get drunk to compensate.
>>724292528If you immerse yourself, then yes it can be scary but if you just end up thinking it as just a video game it's not really. The games have great atmosphere and tension, 5 is probably the least "scary of the series" not including spirit camera. The fatal frame series has probably my favorite combat in all the survival horror genre though.
>>724294548Can't you emulate 3 with an increased frame rate?
4 > 2 = 1 > 5 > 3
