Yep. It doesn't get better than this...

xbox was best and all we played was halo 1 in a LAN setting
everything else was for kids
even though I was a kid back then..
>>
>>724280282
is it worth it to buy an og xbox in 2025?
or a wavebird controller for the gamecube?

You should think before you post.

OG Xbox for sure
Very easily modded and can put shitloads of great games
Have mine hooked up to a CRT and it great
Wavebird is pointless in my opinion
>>
PS2 + Gamecube + PC was the perfect combo.
>>724280707
Not really any reason to get a wavebird with how many new Gamecube controllers are out there. They're too rare now.

Just get a SATA HDD and adapter
>>
>>724280282
playing ssx tricky on ps2 right now
>>724280707
yeah xbox is cool, but the hardware is ass and needs some tlc
you'll obviously want to softmod it (can be done with just a compatible thumb drive and usb port adapter-search skeleton key), swap out the hard drive, and remove a capacitor if your mobo is vulnerable
>>
>>724280707
I picked up a modded xbox pretty cheap from FB marketplace
>>
>>724281772
is ssx tricky better on gamecube or ps2?

Starting with top left and proceeding clockwise:

>crazy taxi machine
>halo machine

what the fuck do you mean "mario tennis" machine when melee is right there

yes, gc/xbox are missing some moves due to the lack of 4 top buttons
>>
>>724280282
There would be like 20 bangers released every year. There were so many good games you didn't have time to play them all. What happened?
>>
>>724282325
I see. PS2 it is then. How's SSX3 in comparison?
>>
>>724282331
Like movies, shit has gotten way too bloated
It’s why Nintendo keeps development in line
>>
>>724282624
Be wary, PS2 is almost exclusively 480i so it might look a bit blurry
>>
>>724282331
how about when jrpg sequels came out every year or 2 and the games had grind endgame to keep you busy until the next one came out? ffx kept me busy for a very long time.
>>
>>724282624
iirc ssx3 also has missing moves on gc from the ps2 version, but the xbox version has them mapped to the b/w buttons

Destiny Launch was on the same level. I even waited in line at the Fred Meyer in Juneau, Alaska all night for it. Really good memories. Gaming is fucking dead now though.

Well if you’re on a CRT it’s not an issue
>>
The GameCube gives me warm and fuzzy feelings but was something of a failure. The Dreamcast was an interesting bridge between retro and modern that I'd like to see again since I like single-stick controllers. Xbox had potential but unfortunately become overly reliant on gaylo to the detriment of everything else. The PS2 obviously blows them all out of the water, the machine is just magic and will provide you with more captivating experiences than any other piece of hardware on the planet.
>>
>>724283364
I don't have a CRT...

>>
>>724280707
Xbox, yes, but consider that all the consoles need to be recapped, plus if it's not modded you'll need to mod it, and also install the largest HDD you can find (which is not that easy as it still uses IDE, and SATA to IDE converters won't always work except for one specific more expensive model that I'm not even sure if it's still under production). You can't really play games from disc on them because the drive belts have worn out.

Switch and Switch 2 are sorta in their own category, but I think switch 1 was more of an 8th gen console, and switch 2 9th gen

no point in a gamecube unless you want the GBA player. The backwards compatible wii is just better. My wavebirds all crapped out after a year.

think about it. Gen 6 DID have plenty of great games, I don't want to claim otherwise, but games from gen 5 and gen 7 just trounced it overall. The prior gen had more soul and the latter gen developed the good games from gen 6, generally for the better. I personally think the only people that truly look back on gen 6 fondly are gta autists or cawadoody nerds. For every shadow of the colossus or mgs3 there were a thousand awful flops, whereas even if certain continuations of those series on the subsequent generation were less well-received (like mgs4 as a specific example - nobody can deny that people liked the prior 3 entries more, at the VERY least at launch) there was a higher proportion of good games to shovelware. Gamecube alone was filled with pretty much nothing but slop. Dreamcast is insanely overrated. Then you have the first true slopsystem, the ps2, and then xbox has halo and halo 2 I guess? I always hated that series. So you have the ps2. GTA? I guess some people like the resident evil games on it, but I never played the series and I was under the impression people didn't care for it. While on the PS3/in gen 7 you had stuff like dead space, dark souls, resistance, bioshock, gears of war, dishonored, bamham, the xcom reboot, bethesda fallout games... just nothing like that on ps2. Destroy all humans and god of war (yes, the ORIGINALS too) just don't hold up, man.
>>
>>724280282
4th gen was way better.
6th gen was the era of licensed slop, cinematic non games, and the death of japan.
