Literally everything was fine in 2010. You could build a mid range desktop for $1000 without even scrounging and all was well. We really had it good.

Then the China bitcoin miners showed up and bought all the GPUs and pushed up the prices. Then the AI bubble happened and they demanded even more and turned GPUs into a strategic asset and launched trade wars to corner the GPU market.

They just come and fucked with us for no reason we were minding our own business. Now a midrange desktop costs $5000 and they're locking us out of our own hobby. We were here first. We kept NVidia and AMD alive and prosperous for 20 years. And this is how they repay us with a stab in the back.

We minded our own business and never asked for this fight. But it was brought to us and it's time that gamers rise up

fuck them all

I bought a 4070 ti super for $600 last year on black friday. Just be patient and do your research. It's not like buying a console, it's more like buying a car. Don't wait until everything becomes shit and its an emergency. Just save up and do your research.

no one ever mined bitcoin on gpus
it was for ethereum and it lasted for a year tops then it was basically a fire sale when it dumped
AI data centers never used retail cards
unironically, the prices are fucked by people, specifically by scalpers
if it weren't for them we'd have a massive surplus of unsold gpus driving the stores into giving discounts

Related PC question, any anons run a Samsung Odyssey G7 G70D monitor? Decent price for a 4k/144hz 32 inch, but has a lot of bad reviews around dimming and colour contrast. Any thoughts?
