DS1 is only the best if you find it scary. For me, as the game goes on I feel less and less scared as I realize I'm a walking genocide machine with the great upgraded weapons and psych abilities. The second game respects your lethality and matches it with bigger and stronger mobs, just all around a much more exciting action game experience.
