why do fps games require 120+ fps bare minimum while fighting games always run at 60? and why are console games playable at 30?

It's because of the input buffer. Fighting games have to lock the frame rate to match the standard television refresh rate (60hz) for tournament legality, it's an old PAL/NTSC thing. FPS games don't have that restriction so they just let the GPU run wild.

The answer is really simple, OP, and you'll never forget the reason once you hear it. The faster you die in a game, the higher people want their FPS. You die the fastest in shooters. Make sense? They want the highest chance of killing the other person.

Maybe, but when I say shooters, I meant multiplayer shooters. Because you're playing against other people, people WANT the advantage. For example
>I'm playing at 120fps.
>You're playing at 60fps.
I have a higher chance of killing you. If you kill me, your reaction time is just better, and you beat me with a disadvantage.

Absolutely. You see more of the game if you're playing at a higher FPS. It's MOST important in shooters because you die so fast.
