So they took a step back and tried to soft reboot the series with Halo Infinite. Which at that point any good will had been spent.I'd say Halo as a franchise has been walking dead since 4 realistically. But even the most diehards probably got sick with how bad 5 was. Halo probably wont ever "die", because Microsoft it's way to valuable as an IP.But 343 should've been dissolved years ago. They've proven time and time again to be utterly incompetent when delivering promises, and cannot make anything noteworthy on their own. Microsoft probably gave them a one last chance warning, so they took the safest option available and that's why we have the new Halo Remaster/Remake. I'd say there's probably another 2 years left, depending on how poorly the remake/remaster sells. If it isn't received well, then I think 343 is done. And Microsoft is probably going to pocket the IP for use way down the line, talking probably a decade.

Bungie were later acquired by Microsoft who made them change Halo from a third-person shooter to a fps and a Xbox launch title.
