Each of them besides Archaon and Gotrek became Gods of the Winds they were being bound to. The original WHFB planet 'exists' but it's little more than a molten rock after Chaos destroyed it.
This is one of the big sticking points as to why people have hated and continue to hate AoS; it wasn't just a new thing, it was a new thing that was made by GW completely destroying Fantasy.

Personally i'd only take two spawns, theyre kind of fragile and are mostly just good for charging into flanks once the main lines have met. Also FLAMERS my lad, flamers fucking obliterate everything, they're some of the best units in the game. Not the flying flamers though, because theyre shooting down at units instead of straight through them the angle is off and they do way less damage.

Im far from an expert player but what I do is have a line of a small unit of highly durable infantry backed by A LOT of pink horrors, 2 blue horrors, 2 chaos spawn, 2 doom knights, and 2-4 flamers. Let the enemy line come to you and hose them the fuck down with your flamers as they approach, just in those few seconds you can do A LOT of damage, then move your flamers back through your lines. Once everyone is tangled up, send your doom knights to harass enemy artillery and anything else thats fragile and alone, and move your blue horrors, flamers, and spawn to the sides. Your horrors will do plenty of damage firing on the enemy's flanks but your flamers will do SHITLOADS, however they're fragile and must be protected. Only move your spawns/horrors away from them if theres no one nearby to threaten them. The flying ones require less attention because theyre better at evading stuff but imo the ground ones are worth the extra effort/resources to defend.

There many factors behind why Age of Sigmar happened. Many are not likeable factors, and much of it is due to GW's own incompetence, but the fact remains that Fantasy died for a valid reason. Vermintide and Total War give a specially detached view of Fantasy that looks back only at the good aspects, leading many to not fully understand why GW did what they did. Suffice to say, the Fantasy presented by video games is not the Fantasy presented by the tabletop, and despite how ridiculous TWW has turned out in terms of DLC, the video games don't even BEGIN to scratch the same monumental earnings that tabletop bringns in.
This is also not unique to Fantasy. Both 40k and AoS also suffer from this sort of misrepresentation. If Horus Heresy had a major game, the same would likely go for that as well. At the end of the day, GW doesn't care so long as the models keep flowing.

It's just sort of a natural result of the Sandboxy nature of the grand campaign. Personally I never cared for Mortal/Immortal empires. I always conceptually liked the Campaigns, but CA just kept making them purposefully bad because ????. I would kill for a narrative style campaign like the tutorial just actually hard.
