The only decent ones are Nintendo Land, Xenoblade, Splatoon, Sm4sh, Color Splash and both zelda remasters maybe. Bayo2 was also pretty good.

Wii U only looks good on retrospective because all the games are already there. Back in the day you had like 1-2 decent games per year, and the worst looking version of virtual console games.

I'd argue 2014 Wii U was superior to 2014 PS4 since it had no gaems back then. from 2015 onwards PS4 beat the shit out of Wii U

What in the fuck was Nintendo doing during this period? How do you just release garbage upon garbage so consistently? Did they just have no one practice doing anything for the entire Wii era? I remember hearing that Japanese devs didn't think HD would become widespread until the mid to late 2010s at the earliest so maybe the quick adoption stunned them? But even then these games weren't super realistic. What was going on?

what happened i think is that they pivoted too hard towards casuals in the later wii years. They thought Nintendoland and another new super mario bros game could carry the console and that at the very least they could lean on people recognising the wii brand to give it some momentum while other projects were finished.

Turns out the wiiU gimmick is not remotely as cool as the wii, and nintendoland wasnt wiisports. Also new super mario bros finally burnt out with a game that brought nothing remarkable to the series, and that didnt benefit from the extra power of the console.

Pikmin 3 was on the way but that was an extremely niche game that already failed to sell the gamecube. Zelda team was just done with SS and wouldnt have anything done for years, and metroid was basically abandoned for being too hardcore for their perceived current audience, so this meant no real hype traditional games for a very fucking long time. It was up to the third parties to do this but most they got were old ports from the ps360 era that everyone was done with.

They really done goofed. It became a lot better a couple years in when Mario 3d world, mario kart, bayonetta and xenoblade were out but it was too late and the marketing was preposterous.

Nope, the qol changes and hd graphics were much needed upgrades. The og ww release looks awful unless you spend out the ass for a component cable and a crt and thats not worth it when the sailing and triforce fetch quest are un fucked with in the og
