Is Daikatana really that bad? I was about to pick it up but heard that it was very poorly received on release.
I don't think anyone played it. Seriously. It was completely destroyed by gaming mags and Romero was being dragged for the failure of Eidos.

It's like, $0.99 during sales, so who cares? Try it out for yourself.
Yes.
I can’t post without my good friend Superfly
>>724325856I played it when it came out but had no ideas about the news. Just a really shitty game.
>>724325691No (except the starting level). It's just unfinished by default. Development was rushed so half the stuff doesn't work like NPC paths. The fan patches and ports fixed everything and the game is extremely fun.
>>724325691It has better weapons and level design than Halo
>>724325691The remake would've been pretty sweet.
Daikatana is weird because it's first handful of levels are really shitty, but once you get to the tike travel stuff it's actually decent. The starting slog (understandably) filtered alot of game journos, so it got absolutely trashed.
I don't remember much of it to be honest
It's not bad, but it's not good either. It's aggressively mediocre, and since they branded it as a "romero game", everyone compared it to DOOM. Which made it look even worse.
>ITT: a bunch of fags that got turned into John Romero's bitch
>>724325691It was mostly mediocre and very buggy, but the reputation is because John Romero was one of the early rock stars of the industry so him making a mediocre game, especially with the infamous magazine ad, was a big deal, with the production process exposing him as a primadonna.
>>724325691install the fan patches so it isn't so buggythe first few levels are very boring but it picks up. the guns and enemy types are all fun and the level design is good doom/quake shit
