I really don't understand people's criticisms, Starfield is in many ways (improved) Skyrim in space and that's the problem. Skyrim was a good 2011 game but it just doesn't cut it anymore, if it came out today it'd be laughed out the door and someone would reinstall TW3. Skyrim's faction questline are generally pretty awful, there are no really gripping characters you get to know over the hours of the main questline just NPCs that fulfill a role. Except maybe Serana and Paarthurnax. Starfield remedies this somewhat but it doesn't have the very strong lore (often dismissed unfortunately) that TES has to support it, so it just stays what it is, an incredibly bland (but not outright bad imo) game.
