The Light is an impersonal force that is no more capable of abandoning a person than "the Arcane" could abandon you or "the Nature Magic" could abandon you. Only people of upright moral and discipline can use the Holy Light, so if they ever find themselves no longer able to use the Light, it is because they abandoned through evil, vice and sin. It cannot abandon them of its own will because it does not have a will.

Not that Blizzard's writers actually remembered this for more than 2 seconds and didn't immediately started treating the Holy Light like it was Warcraft Jesus at pretty much all times until they were specifically reminded of that fact, which they would only hold in their heads for about the same amount of time as a goldfish.

>Only people of upright moral and discipline can use the Holy Light, so if they ever find themselves no longer able to use the Light, it is because they abandoned through evil, vice and sin

The Scarlet Crusaders can use the Light, suggesting that you simply have to be disciplined and adverse to some specific form of evil to use it, you don't have to be all-around good
>>
He was obviously a spoiled brat who was "trained" in the light but never had true faith or belief in it. The Stratholme scenario is morally grey and questionable but he behaves like a total dick straight from the first mission.
>>
>>724341917
Yes, that's the point. The Holy Light is an impersonal force, so it cannot judge absolutely the moral character of your actions, so people can use the Holy Light so long as they have pure intentions and genuinely believe themself to be doing the right thing. Which means that an insane cult like the Scarlet Crusade can use it.
>>
>>724340247
The original wow should have 3 factions, the third should be broken draenei, naga and blood elves. The Alliance with NE and horde with undead is stupid.

Also, on top of all the "The Light abandoned us!" nonsense you get in WoW, considering that the Holy Light is a force that gets stronger the more righteous and pure-of-heart you are, and weakens with sin and corruption, not even once character even briefly considers that the Light could not protect them from evil because of their own sin and vice weakening it. Which is a far more likely scenario than people being "abandoned" by an impersonal force.
>>
>>724342671
Night elves and undead were main factions in 3, they had to be playable one way or another
>>
>>724340498
necromancy ages the fuck out of you ironically

Treatment of the Holy Light by Blizzard across years is so fucking shit.
WC2/3+books
>Holy Light is innately good abstract force, that helps paladins and priests to protect innocent and defeat universally bad people.
WoW Classic-WoD
>Holy Light is a force that depends on the user and abandons you if you lose faith but not if your faith is aimed towards bad shit. Scarlet Crusade still have the Light even though they use it for evil deeds as long as they believe that it helps them to protect their people and defeat their enemies.
WoW Legion-Midnight
>Actualy Light is an asshole that wants to cleanse the world and use people as conductors of its will. It helped paladins and priests to protect innocent and defeat bad guys when it was beneficial to it. To then push them to be its servants. But sometimes it doesn't even respond and comes later like a moron.

I fucking hate that.

He really doesn't.
He just cared a lot about his people and couldn't handle the pressure. The manual literally spells it out for you.

The Light, nature, the elements, all lend power to worthy practitioners. Meanwhile arcane magic is stealing that power.

>>
>>724344035
NTA but your only mistake is getting invested in the Warcraft lore when it went to the shitter post TFT when multiple writers started to shit out medicore books and did mediocre work on WoW because they clearly didn't give a shit about creating a consistent coherent world, they just made up shit whatever the current story arc required and fuck everything else. There was never any hope that it wouldn't be contrived mess.
>>
>>724345072
He hasn't got a soul anymore at that point, he literally can't give a shit.

>>724345539
Normal damage is more useful than chaos damage. Only worse vs buildings.

>>724347602
Damn you're right.
Then why did they bother giving chaos dmg to "strong" units (like lvl 7 and above creeps, DH ulti) and godlike heroes in the campaign?

I just realized Arthas never actually died; he was a living human necromancer the whole time even as the Lich King.

Arthas returns to Lordaeron haggard and his flesh grey and lifeless, he also from that point is tagged as an Undead unit. So even if you ignore WoW lore, he was quite obviously dead when he came back to succeed daddy-o.
