>everyone talks about how Dancing Mad is the best video game music ever>mfw it's 17 minutes long and the majority of it is boring as shit and the only good part is from the final phase when it goes do do do do dodo dodo dodo do dododo dododododo
Yes yes, we could tell you were a zoomer faggot, you didn't need to say it
>>724360021Hope this is bait, but I'll bite. For the limitations it's obviously amazing. You couldn't exactly get an orchestral rip into a 6MB max game cartridge. Sorry it wasn't bussin fr fr on god for you lil zoomie.
>>724360021You wouldn't get it.
I actually played the game for the first time in 2017 and I'm inclined to agree, this is one of the best games ever made and Dancing Mad is a really impressive song but it's not what I could call amazing final boss music. Uematsu was just flexing, it was completely unnecessary.
>quarterwits don't get the four movement structure of classical symphonies
>OP outing himself as having ADHDokay
>>724360690Don't get me wrong, I think the last part of the song is great final boss music, but the song as a whole is like Freebird where you have to wait forever to get to the actual good part and the parts before it are just not compelling enough to justify it.
Zoomers when the song goes on for longer than a 30 second tiktok
>>724360979Maybe if there was a video of Kyle MacLachlan lipsyncing to Dancing Mad in a Kefka costume
>>724360021nope, ur gay
I don't like Kefka. He's funny at times but I hate how he keeps pulling victories out of his ass
OP. Listen to this.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=jMFCM0SKbnY
>>724360021It is a good track, but not my favorite.
>>724360879But the actual good part starts at 00:00
>>724360021Like most FF6 things its overrated
>>724361795Whoa, looks like you tried to hit the 7 key and missed. Might wanna delete your post and try again, my dude.
>>724360021Gay and also retardedI prescribe Joey Defrancesco to cure you
>>724361795>>724361859No anon sorry, i just had my laptop upside down and i thought i was pressing 9
>>724361538Blame Gestahl. Everything is that dog looking fuckers fault.
I feel like the exact opposite, I like everything except the final part it sounds really muted

>>724362243fucking drives me up the wall how every comment section is turned off on music or anything japanese
>>724361729Of?
>>724362414That's not because of it being music or Japanese, that's because it's a "topic" channel. They are auto generated by youtube so they automatically turn the comments off because technically it's not anyone's channel so nobody has control over it. And of course the license holders have blocked most regular people's uploads of the song, but if you can find one you'll see the comments are still open.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2XV2W5RiUdE

>>724360021Dancing Mad's the contrarian's choice. One Winged Angel regarded as Uematsu's best for a good reason.
>>724361538Kefka did the grind, and EARNED his victories.
>>724360021It's KINO, One Winged Angel is very good too but it's a bit too standard "Oh, latin chants!!!", Dancing Mad has the balls to start with an epic opera-esque song that also plays into the aesthetic of the game as a whole only to end with an almost joyful song of the villain enjoying how evil he is but then it turns tragic.
>listen to tarkus because someone said dancing mad was an elp ripoff>it's just half an hour of a guy playing random notes on a keboardguess I'm filtered
>>724360021>When you realize you're tired of being intelligent, nihilistic, and with a wicked sense of humor.
>some rando uploads the best, most accurate arrangement of the songhttps://youtu.be/-O-9U_QKhgA?list=RD-O-9U_QKhgAThe third movement is so good.
>>724360021I like VI, but yes. It sucks. An Kefka isn’t that interesting as a villain, much like Sephiroth.
Dark Messenger is the best Final Fantasy song ever made and I'll never forgive them for renaming it to Darkness of Eternity
>>724360021Kefka's regular theme is underappreciated. Not because it's the perfect song, but because it suits the character it's attached to so perfectly. This piece of music is as much a piece of the character as his visual design or his dialog.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sxe71i8HeggAppreciating this song also helps in appreciating Dancing Mad more, along with the motifs of the opening theme. Since the final section of Dancing Mad is this song gone totally off the deep end.
>>724360021>not liking duh duh duh duh dun duhduhduh durudhuhduhdhuhd dhuhdhdun dhun du dhuuuuUltimafag
>>724361538One of the best parts about Kefka is that he stumbles into a lot of his victories. He's no genius mastermind. He just takes every opportunity that presents itself and runs full tilt with it as far as he possibly can. No grand strategy, no long term plan, he didn't even really manipulate anyone toward anything for the most part. At least not on purpose. He was just an agent of chaos that simply hated everything and somehow managed to keep essentially lucking out into being able to fuck shit up so much worse than he had any right to
>>724369070I wish there were more art of Kefka that reflected his sprite design instead of his Amano art.
>>724360021retard. you idiot retard nigger. faggot nigger moron. get raped
>>724367409>I'll never forgive them for renaming it to Darkness of EternityThe fuck? That's stupid. But it does sound like exactly what I'd expect from Square Enix.
whose fucking idea was it to trust the clown
>>724370009Gestahl's biggest mistake was underestimating Kefka and thinking he could keep him under control, in spite of knowing that he was an unstable maniac. By the time he moved to get rid of him it was way, waaay too late.If nothing else, Kefka had a much better understanding of how magic functions than Gestahl ever did. Arrogant old fool.
Theres some good FF music but nothing I would particularly want to listen to on my freetime.
>>724360021Is that chief keef?
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Sbw6d3sX7Ik
>>724360021Dancing Mad, like most FF music is cool but I personally only listen to it if I'm doing something vidya related, if not I just don't, the music is good but is not listen on your free time tier.
the extreme is the best onenice buildup, concise and isnt pretentioushttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=WFjHWw_w91Q

To appreciate Dancing Mad you really need to realize how much of the rest of the games themes are woven into it as well. Unlike OP who didn't play the game
>>724370275This kid deserved better than he got. Is it just me or is captcha chugging like a motherfucker?
>>724370194>>724361538>>724369307>>724361965The reason I like Kefka so much as a villain is because he is the natural byproduct of Gestahl's evil. Kekfa himself is one-dimensional, but you can see many times he was enabled when he should have been stopped until finally Gestahl lost control. Experimented on a young age which lost him his insanity, but became a part of the army anyway due to his power. He then committed war crimes, got locked up, and then released when Gestahl reneged on a ceasefire which ended with him killing the most competent and loyal general. Gestahl is about to grasp the power he has been vying for, but Kefka, being sadistic and destructive, decides to destroy the world for fun. Gestahl had many opportunities to stop him, for moral and practical reasons, but paid the ultimate price in the end. I don't like when people call him "deep" or "complex", but I do think he complements the story very well.
>>724360021ff6 is the most overrated game of all final fantasy. it was total shit and having to do 3 party stuff is a slog. no i dont want to level up ungobungo the yeti just so i can beat the game

>>724360021>MFW in the nearly 30 years since the release of the game nobody has ever dared to create something as amazing as Dancing Mad in a video game nor the 20 minute long ending credits music.
>>72437935420 minute credits? That's nothinghttps://www.youtube.com/watch?v=znfU6zXvVcQ
>>724379431>4 hours of a looped 2 minute song.REALLY GOOD STUFF!IM SO HAPPY TO HEAR DOP DOOP DA DOO DOO DO DOOP FOR 4 HOURS!Thanks for helping prove that modern devs dont give a shit.
>>724379616Well that game actually came out 10 years ago, but I would contend that it's not a matter of modern vs. old devs considering I doubt there are many other examples of 20 minute credits in other games released in FF6's time. For a non-joke example, RDR2 had a 35 minutes long credit sequence with unique music.
>>724379431ah yes, the wall of shame
>>724379354The final song in drakengard 3 was pretty good

>>724360021Let me guess zoomie, the only long song you "like" (probably haven't even listened to yourself) is picrel?
>>724382441Why would you think anyone would know what this is? You probably just wanted to show people a song you like and make them listen to it. Well congratulations, you succeeded.
>>724382441There's so much projection in this post it's insane
Meanwhile, Tetris on the Commodore 64 had a 26 minute long track (with no looping)https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Ny743c32gPg
>>724382441deos your entire knowledge of music come from browsing /mu/ in the early 2010s?
>>724360021I can agree with this, at least it being way overrated. The SNES soundchip just isn't a good fit for an ambitious orchestral piece, and Uematsu didn't have the technical skill of other composers like Yuzo Koshiro or the Follin brothers to squeeze pleasing sounds out of the hardware. It baffles me that people in this very thread call it technically impressive for being... what, long?
>>724360021take kefka's name out of your fucking mouth
>>724360021It's shit compared to One Winged Angel. Show both songs to someone who doesn't play vidya and only cares about music and I guarantee they'll pick One Winged Angel every time.
>>724366627One Winged Angel is good depending on which version you're listening to. The only reason people might think One Winged Angel is better is because 7 was a more popular game than 6, and that it's not a midi in the original game.
>>724386028You could not be more wrong. Music theorists will sing the praises of Dancing Mad for being a mix of classical, baroque and prog rock. You're just trying to justify your own subjective opinion as the objectively correct one.
>>724386037I think it actually is a midi in the original game?
>>724386037Vanilla One Winged Angel is the Goat. It's every version made after FF7 that doesn't get it. Like a microcosm for the FF7 expanded universe experience
>>724386319I think you're right, I suppose I could have been more specific in referring to the soundfont.
>>724386145>classical, baroque and prog rockAnon, all those things are literally prog rock. >You're just trying to justify your own subjective opinion as the objectively correct oneThe evidence is all over the internet, cope seethe and dilate.>Music theoristsFucking lmao
>>724360021Get a load of this contrarian faggot. Go back to your mumble rap or vaporwave or whatever you zoomer faggots listen to.
>>724369307it's also great that he's introduced as a saturday morning cartoon henchman villain that absolutely seems like he's going to be one storyline and done, or just a silly recurring villain like an Ultros
>>724387040>baroque is prog rockyou're not worth engaging with
I like orchestrated Kefka's theme way better than dancing mad
>>724361538>I hate how he keeps pulling victories out of his assthat's why he's a good villain, cause you actually hate him for this and want him to get his comeuppancejust like a villain is actually supposed to work. None of this gay touchy feely UM ACKSHUALLY THE VILLAIN WAS RIGHT millenial horseshit
>>724361649>DUDE EPIC LOUD CHANTING>DUDE SHITTY BUTTROCK ELECTRIC GEETARoriginal with limitations is vastly superior
You lot are dirty peasants and only disagree with OPs opinion because you think it makes you look like a sophisticated music aficionado. In reality you try to defend old piece of music not because it was good, but because it is old.
>>724387659You are a dirty peasant and only agree with OPs opinion because you think being a contrarian makes your opinion have more merit. In reality you try to tear down iconic pieces of music not because it was bad, but because it is liked.
>>724361538>I hate how he keeps pulling victories out of his assFor me it was his defeats. He would have been more intimidating if he didn't get repeatedly thrashed in the early game
>>724360218>it was good for shitty techAlso known as shitty, period.
>>724360021The first and third stanza are better than the final one, you're just uncultured and can't enjou music that doesn't go DODODODODO
Bolero is the best classical song.
>>724379354The ending theme may still be one of the most impressive pieces of music in a video game, but there have been other games with long, varied, synced-to-the action orchestral tracks of similar caliber. Uematsu's own "Answers" for FF14 comes to mind, especially as used in the final battle against Bahamut where even his attacks are perfectly timed to the music.
>>724370474Agreed. Replays of FF6 these days make me appreciate the story more and more. It's pretty amazing that they can convey this much of a story with really minimal dialogue and cut scenes.
