I'm 35 years old and it took me 2 decades to finally play Resident Evil 4, the original version. And holy shit this is actually great. I guess I played a few minutes of it when my brother bought a copy when it originally released. But I was already mostly disinterested of Resident Evil up to that point. Absolutely fantastic I cannot believe this game can still hold up even today.

Also RE4 has great controls and its enemies are designed around said controls>>724363659I much prefer the over the top action melodrama they went for in 4-6 over the half assed clunky "horror" direction of the last 2 games, 7 is easily the least pleasant to play and replay of the mainline games, and 8 taking the base of 7 and then slapping for action elements on top of it to make a game that is neither scary nor an exceptional action game sucks, it does neither well, so it just comes out mediocre
>>724364461 Yeah and Capcom sabotaged them by not releasing them with online in the West. Outbreak was literally ahead of its time - squad-based, online RE with unique characters and scenarios. But instead of building on that, we got Leon roundhouse kicking monks. Not saying RE4 isn't great, it just changed the direction forever while Outbreak got left in a dumpster.
