I stopped playing it because I didn't want to burn out before the promised content update.
But then the content update kept getting delayed.

I'm still confident I'll great fun with it whenever it does drop. But until then I'm playing other games.

Play poker hands to beat a set score. Joker cards modify your score based on rules unique to the joker. Planet cards increase the base score formula for a given poker hand. Tarot cards modify playing cards, increase their value, copy them with another card, or delete the card entirely based on the tarot. Vouchers are a per run permanent boost to a specific area of the game based on the voucher. You are able to buy cards in the shop after every blind with money earned from winning blinds. Money can also be earned with each hand you didn't play, through interest by holding at least $5 to earn $1 for every $5 you have up to $25, or through specific joker or playing card interactions.

Have you ever played a Panel de Pon or Tetris Attack clone where you match colored tiles, then more tiles drop down to make more matches, and then you orgasm because you got lucky and hit the crazy x10 multiplier bonus? That's basically Balatro. It's a poker game where you're trying to based face because you got a crazy high score from card plays.

I'm like halfway through beating all decks on gold stake. This is a good relaxing do a couple of runs per night if you feel like it sort of game, though build variety and some of the joker balance does feel quite lopsided. I hope we can get that big update soon.

I just beat the Golden Needle challenge a little bit ago.

It's a fad, the game is boring and its luck based. Then when you get the best build and you break the game thats it, there's nothing else to the game. It's fun for 2 hours.

These type of games, card games don't last forever.
Inscryption has better gameplay and more artistically styled game IMO

It's a niche game with a niche fanbase. If you took the time to search Balatro on YouTube/Twitch, you would see that there are people still playing/streaming it religiously with still sizable viewership.
