Tank controls ruined these games.
>>
>>724364147
no it didn't zoomer retard, what makes them shit to replay is
>unskippable cutscenes
>open menu
5 second second loading screen
>open door
5 second second loading screen
>pick up herb
5 second loading screen
>>
I played all of these for the first time a few years ago and still managed with tank controls.
>>
>>724364309
gog version doesn't have this problem
>>
They were puzzle games first and foremost if you don't like puzzle games you won't like them
>>
>>724364147
you can play re1 remakes or the n64 version of 2 and realize that tank controls work better with the camera angles
>>
>>724364147
No they didn't.
>>
>>724364147
i thought they were fun and cool in the late 90s when i was a kid
>>
Name a better way to have cinematic camera angles while having full control off your character at all times.
>>
>>724364398
Gog's versions of Re1 and 2 still have the unskippable cutscenes problem, but man it really is nice to be able to go through doors instantly
>>
>>724364147
retarded take cuz these games actually had a reason to have tank controls unlike tomb raider or silent hill. can't have all those fancy-ass prerendered backgrounds otherwise.
>>
>>724364534
which ones are unskippable? i just press select on my controller and it skips them. at least the opening ones in re2. not sure about the rest
>>
Running from Nemesis is way scarier when you have to use tank controls. It adds a sense of Jill's vulnerability.

Also jump scares like the dogs in 1 or Nemesis through the police station window in 3 are scariest with a fixed camera angle. Or at least easier to engineer so that all players experience the same level of scare.
>>
The classic RE trilogy is so good. They flow into one another so well with almost perfect escalation of action.
>>
>>724364586
Prerendered cutscenes ARE skippable, but you have to sit through dialogue scenes every fucking time. RE3 fixed this by letting you skip them, which is greatly appreciated
>>
>>724364147
fixed camera slop gave me fatigue when i was 6 years old
>>
>>724364849
You're either a nigger, or white trash. No normal portents let their 6 year old play RE.
>>
>>724364147
I played 1 and 2 for the first time this month. Tank controls take like 10 mins to get used to
>>
>>724365007
are you a fag? parents let their kids play adult games all the time
>>
Eternal Darkness is the culmination of fixed camera angles with small dynamic tracking and fixes the tank control issue using that camera set-up.
It's a great game that Nintendo are forever cunts for keeping locked on the Gamecube. PC port when?
Yes I know emulation exists but I would love for an upscaled Remaster on PC.
>>
>>724364147
Tank controls has never been an issue in any game I've played.
>>
>>724365007
nta but im not black or white trash. i grew up a rich kid who was "raised" by parents whos idea of raising children was buying them shit to keep them distracted. as a result igrew up with some violent video games lime mortal kombat 3 and gta san andreas, and did watch my brother play resident evil 0. watched my sisters boyfriend play dino crisis as well.
>>
Its the obsessed weirdo from /vr/
>>
>>724364147
No but tank controls ruined Code Veronica. All the environments are rendered fully and with a tracking camera so tank controls only hinder the overall experience as opposed to the maze-like PS1 games.
>>
>>724365406
Yes also because there was too much backtracking in that game for tank controls to be fun.
>>
>>724364147
Reminder REmake 2 is godawful
>>
>>724366547
I think you mean 3. 2 was great

>RESIDENTSIDENT3 2VIL NEMESIS
>>

No, it really wasn't. The RPD as a location and the way the puzzles were adapted were great. General gameplay is contentious on what you believe remakes should truly be like and whether the 'remaking' card should include mechanics and not only scenario/characters or in other words, whether you can call a game a remake of an older game if you change the way it plays from fixed camera and tank controls to yet another TPS over the shoulder samey experience. Then narratively, both in the script and especially on the characters... well, characterization, is unbelievably awful if you have the original fresh in your mind. Nobody acts like their actual characters, everyone's dumbed down, done a 180 on (Irons, Ben) or Flanderized (Claire, Leon).

3 is worse, but that doesn't make 2 good by default. It's certainly no REmake 1
>>
>>724367370
they are remakes for a reason, if you want to play the same game just play the original

"Just be okay and don't bring up newer games delivering worse experiences" was not an argument when used in countless previous videogame discussions and it sure isn't now. Especially when these flaws are not only contingent on the original, but on REmake 2 itself. Precisely, in part, because it picks and chooses what bits of the original script to keep while replacing others with new writing, not realizing that by doing so what was originally one story with no holes now is a story with character and plot holes. Which, as a full product, is a flaw within REmake 2 itself regardless of any one game that existed in 1998. You can have actual discussion if you want, or you can just disregard this again.
>>
>>724364147
Tank controls made them fun. You just have shit taste.
>>
>>724367836
I just have a feeling you are being salty since its tps and not tank controls where you can try and gatekeep.
the story has always been shit and thats why its so good, its a shitty action/horror script not something deep. I bet you think games like metal gear are deep as well.
go back to dan flashes
>>
>>724367836
Calling something "godawful" is an inflammatory statement, so you didn't want to have a discussion in the first place.
>>
Apparently not considering they were successful and solidly established a massive franchise.

I'll accept there's no discussion to be had then.

>>724368115
It's a negative statement to denote my negative opinion of the game as a remake. There was nothing stopping you or any other anon from trying to argue back. But what can you do.

>>724367836

Tank controls are objectively fun and should come back.
