>Elden Ring came out almost 4 years ago
Holy shit. No game will ever live up to the magic. Not even From's next big game.
>>

The DLC was so bad that it killed my interest in From's games going forward.

>Not even From's next big game
I don't know about that, but I am eager to see what they've been cooking. I think its possible we see something at the Geoff awards
>>
>>724369947
The DLC is better than the base game thoughbeit
>>
>>724369991
both were shit imo
souls formula with open world survival crafting was not fun
>>
>>724369902
>implying game had any magic compared to soulful des-ds2
>>
>>724369991
The DLC is the worst gaming experience I've had in years, so bad, and so bad in the ways that it's bad that it made me realize that it's impossible for nu-From to recapture the magic of DS1.

>survival crafting
You have zero idea what that means if you're applying it to fucking ER. Jesus christ you're fucking retarded.
>>
>>724370064
If you didn't like the base game... why did you play the DLC? You have no room to talk
>>724370083
C'mon nigger. Can you at least elaborate on your thoughts instead of jumping straight to some faggy hyperbole
>>
>>724370064
>he used the crafting
you didn't beat the game
>>

Oops! Looks like you accidentally phrased your personal opinion as a statement of fact! Next time, try saying something along the lines of "I think that the DLC was..."

Please be mindful that Shadow of the Erdtree is widely regarded as a jaw-dropping masterpiece, so stating your opinion as fact might result in some inflammatory discourse!

Best regards,
Joey

>why did you play the DLC
From's DLCs up until that point had all been pretty good. Only one I didn't like before it was one of the DS3 ones
>>
>>724370160
>he used any consumables at all besides flasks
you didn't beat the game

The "magic" in ER was the same kind of "magic" in BotW, going from point A to point B only to find out nothing of interest was there then heading towards point C. The "magic" comes from you yourself imaging what can be at the next area you saw on the horizon only to be sorely disappointed over and over until all the wonder is gone 5 hours in.
ER subjectively does it much better because there are points where there are bigger payoffs to exploration like optional dungeons but even those are ruined by nauseating amounts of boss recycling and le hardcore prepare to dieā„¢ spastic bosses which switch from "oh boy, a boss!" to "oh boy, a boss..." real quick.

Yes, and that picture supports my claim. Only in China did it receive less than 50%

Why did you highlight Japanese specifically? That's still an above-50% rating.

Best regards,
Joey

Thanks Joe you've always got my back

Same and it ruined the base game performance thanks to that shit.

Better in some and worse in others I'd say. I think the level design in the DLC is hands-down some of the finest work From has ever done. Exploring and figuring out how to reach a landmark I had only previously seen in the distance was awesome. On the other hand, I also think they left it too empty. Too often I'd finally reach the destination I was looking for, only to find... basically nothing. Base ER didn't really suffer from this. They also improved the quality of the side dungeons but decreased the number. It would've been great to have more dungeons at the higher quality level.

Some of the bosses are also kinda ass. They're drinking the 'le hard videogame' koolaid a bit too much, the combat system doesn't work properly when bosses spam 37 move long combo strings with extra delayed AoE and particle spam which conceals animations and doesn't let you see what's happening (prime example: nuRadahn). This pigeonholes a lot of builds into reductive and restrictive play styles and makes the vast majority of options the game gives you shit / bad / unusable with only a few particular styles getting to stretch their legs. They need to either rethink their boss design or they need to rethink the core combat mechanics they offer.

The skibidi whatever the fuck collection garbage was also entirely pointless and unwelcome, I get that they wanted to allow for player power growth in the DLC but they need to offer something more interesting than basic, bare-bones +dmg dealt -dmg taken and that's it. Such progression is practically worthless, building your character is fun because you get to make choices and use the stuff you find cool, if their "progression" literally just adjusts dmg numbers and does nothing else then it may as well just get removed entirely, it's completely hollow anyway.

So I can say I have high hopes as far as level design goes, but they need to curb the bad habits that they also put in display in SotE.
