Lmao. Kefka is easily the most amusing FF villain in the series, which is hilarious given that he is "low tier" when it comes to his motivation for villainy.
>>
>>724373110
I agree, he's a hoot
>>
He is until WoR happens and he randomly turns into a nihilist.
>>
>>724373110
There is no such thing as "high tier" motivation to be a world-ending villain. Those are called incels in real life.
>>
>>724373508
He's already destroyed the world and attained godhood. He realizes that no amount of destruction will ever sate his thirst for death.

kino.
>>
>>724373631
I'd believe that if he made a concerted effort to kill everything instead of standing atop a big tower not doing anything.
>>
>>724373805
If he killed everything he'd be alone, which is the very last thing he wants. He stood up there burning random towns of ants who didn't worship him with his magnifying glass, desperate to feel anything even close to the simple joy that his lowly sadism as a human gave him.
>>
>>724374042
How would he even know they "rebelled" against him if he's lock away in his tower?

>FF1 to FF6: JRPG autism
>Ff7 to FF10: Final Fantasy
>FF11 to FF Dawntrail: Square Enix wearing Squaresoft's face as a mask to sell their garbage jrpgs
>Kingdom Hearts: Disney Crossover where each sequel makes less sense
>>
>>724374290
he's a god, presumably he can see and hear them.
>>
>>724373110
Never played 6 since I'm spoiled on every major plot beat but kefka in dissidia is kino
I'm not very far in the game yet but I laughed out loud when terra was trying to give a power of hope speech and he interrupts by repeating what she said with a mocking high pitched voice
I didn't play that game expecting to be amused by any writing or voice acting at all
>>
>>724374510
Chocobo cart racing would revive and make Final Fantasy popular again
>>
>>724373508
Kefka started as a nihilist, it's why he does anything. Do you think he actually had a plan when he moved the Warring Triad out of alignment? Do you honestly believe he had any inkling that that was a method to become a god? Nobody ever told him about the Warring Triad. Moving them out of alignment had just as much chance to kill him as much as everyone else on the planet.
He gambled and won, sure, but it was a pure madman's play because he had nothing to lose to begin with.
>>
>>724374773
You really should just get an emulator up and running & play through the first half at least it's easily one of the best entrys into the series

Only issue is the second half is very split apart some people love it while others absolutely despise it completely and say it ruins an otherwise great SNES rpg[\spoiler]
>>
>>724374907
You think he moved the warring triad out of alignment because he thought it'd be really funny?
>>
>>724374969
He knew it'd be really funny. The legends say catastrophe, and catastrophe is funny.

Cloud had gay sex with multple men

>somehow moving three statues causes the end of the entire world

never sat right with me at least in 9 you had literally magic space aliens

I'm hesitant due to being so spoiled, but I was replaying V for the first time in a few years and a few moments surprised me in that game, and that's a game I've beaten a few times before. So maybe I should bite the bullet and go for it. Could be a lot of stuff that'll re-contextualizes things or that I've somehow avoided.
I am interested in the second half, there's parts in ]Dragon's Dogma that I believe were inspired by it and that was my favourite part of that game.
>>
>>724375084
>Cloud had gay sex with multple men
the is the distillation of what is Final Fantasy
>>
>>724373110
Woolsey's translation for FF6 is fantastic.
Whenever i replay the game (i do it every 1-2 years) i always go with the original retail version.
>>
>>724375353
If you do keep in mind that a character called Bannon ask for help refusing three times gets you neafty item that otherwise would take ages to get

>original final fantasy games are not the epitome of final fantasy

it should be illegal to be this much of a fuckwad

I'll give you something to consider: Your memory isn't perfect. There are going to be things you remember wrong or don't remember at all. Play the game again. It'll surprise you.

>Woosely

Is that the same translation as pic-related?

For some reason my copy always bugged out right after beating the tentacles in the figuro basement
>>
>>724375437
The pixel remastered any good?
>>
>>724375353
it's more fun to talk about a game you have played. I recommend playing games that interest you and you want to talk about
>>
>>724375958
It's ok, but OG puritans will despise you. Nothing really changes between the iterations other than graphics and translation. The game and system stay the same. Do notice the PS1 versions have ungodly long transistions from field to menu. I'd recommend you play the OG versions but if you absolutely need "upgraded" graphics, you do you
>>
>>724373110
That tiering system of villain motivation is inherently retarded and insular. I’d pay no heed.
>>
Is the GBA version of 6 good? I know the snes original is buggy as fuck and if what they did to 4 is anything to go by I imagine they neutered the difficulty and gameplay options, but I'm an ignorant retard who needs spoonfeeding
>>
>>724375437
It is better written than Slattery's, but it has some weird translation goofs (not quirky writing but stuff like mistaking who is supposed to be talking) and mandated censorship. Use Ted Woolsey Uncensored Edition, which is 95% the same but fixes the mistakes and censorship (and includes optional bugfixes).
>>
>>724376383
>>724376268
Nothing changes between the iterations other than translation and graphics. It doesn't matter which version you play
>>
>>724376383
For some reason it has an massively brighter color palette then the original version & sometimes the sound effect can be muffled but other then those two issues it plays great and has some neat extras dungeon/espers

>Do you think he actually had a plan when he moved the Warring Triad out of alignment?
In the Magitek Factory, he reveals that not only does he know of the Warring Triad, but he plans to awaken them.
>Do you honestly believe he had any inkling that that was a method to become a god?
Perhaps not the exact method, but he certainly knew it involved tapping into the power of both the Espers and the Warring Triad in some manner.
>Nobody ever told him about the Warring Triad
See above. He certainly knew they existed, most likely from the ancient scrolls uncovered by Ghestal decades earlier.
>Moving them out of alignment had just as much chance to kill him as much as everyone else on the planet
Perhaps, given he did what he did out of a mad desire of exacting immediate revenge on Celes and the party, but he also quickly figured out that forcing his way inside their magic field both shielded him from all attacks and allowed him to command the power of the Triad, so at that point he likely knew their power was his to grasp. He was certainly a lunatic, but he wasn't stupid.
>He gambled and won, sure, but it was a pure madman's play because he had nothing to lose to begin with
This I'll agree with.
>>
>>724375703
Nope. Woolsey translated the original NA SNES release, while your post is a fan retranslation released around the turn of the millenium, which is now known to be quite amateurish.
>>
>>724376383
The GBA version is actually a little bit harder precisely because they fixed most of the bugs and exploits that could be abused in the SNES original to cheese the fuck out of the game, but even so it's still very easy. It has extra content, including an actual post-game dungeon with super bosses, so that's neat, but the downsides are that there's severe screen crunch due to the GBA's lower resolution, the music is noticeably worse in quality (no, the SNES music patch doesn't completely fix this), there's a lot more slowdown when using certain spells or while riding the airship, and the final battle and ending sequence has some butchered musical transitions. If you ask me, I'd just do that >>724376390 recommends, and play the SNES version with the TWUE hack, specifically the version with minimal bugfixes to keep the gameplay as close to the original game as possible.

>god

>can be killed by mortal men women and white furry creatures

What is it with japan and not understanding what "god" actually means?
>>
>>724377130
Japan's understanding of a god has always been very different from the Western tradition. A Japanese god isn't necessarily immortal, omnipotent, or omni-anything. They're basically just higher beings in some form or fashion.
>>
>>724373110
/ourguy/ was funnier
>>
>>724377130
I think it's you who have narrow understanding and concept of god. Both Kefka and Sephiroth reached "godlike" powers meaning they surpassed normal human limits. JRPG and anime usually show the villain reaching the final step turning into angelic being because it alleviates they are not just big strong guys but something otherworldy, something that has not been seen before (except in all other medias of the genre that use the particular trope). They convey esoteric and lovecraftian vibes of higher beings to whom regular people are not of concern, like Neon Genesis Evangelion and its theme song Cruel Angel Thesis. That no matter how much you kick and scream, you can't reason with the god/angel. Vandal Hearts too had the antagonist transform into angelic being, Angel of Death, same with Star Ocean 2 end boss who grows angelic wings and so on. It's visual clue of you facing something revered and unthinkable, so uncommon that only myths can describe it.
>>
>>724377240
Gods in western traditions have been mortal and fallible across countless cultures. Anon's being deliberately obtuse, don't play into his jewish tricks.
>>
>>724380309
What you say is true, though I would not so readily ascribe maliciousness where sheer ignorance suffices in lieu of evidence to the contrary. Too many people are held captive by the myths they grew up with, knowing nothing of the traditions that preceded them because they contradict their cult.
>>
>>724377296

>>
>>724373110
Exdeath is more amusing
>>
>>724380663
You forgot to add the image of
>I turned myself into splinter! I'm Splinter-Exdeath!
>>
>>724373110
that villain motivation tier list was always an absolute crock of shit that has no bearing on how interesting a villain is
>>
>>724376383
If you play it on a real cart, then the save battery will have issues. Honestly, just play the original
>is buggy as fuck
the evade stat doesn't work and rippler can permanently kill shadow's dog, but that's really it as far as glitches you might encounter through normal play. You can get a bugfix patch, sure, but the game is still very playable in its normal state.
>>
>>724380757
The splinter moment is the only memorable thing about exdeath
>>
>>724383526
Plus Galuf being too angry to die when 1vs1'ing Exdeath and Exdeath himself being surprised of the sudden turn of events
