I found it to be kinda flawed. It's too jank to be as hardcore as it is. If you get bitten your character is doomed to die but the game also has slow xp grinding in skills that reset when you die. This leads to the only proper way to play being sneaking around hiding from zombies and running away to hide if you get spotted because every combat scenario comes with the risk of getting bitten and the jank gameplay increases those odds.

I guess it could be fun if you play solo to see how long you last but then put the game down once you die and maybe revisit every once in a while.

Trying to play it as a game where you progress your skills so you can engage with the base-building survival mechanics of the game sucks ass.

The art and music are good, but the actual roguelike gameplay is pretty simple and easy. I also find the base building annoying as fuck cause the tiles for placing stuff are in a diamond pattern.

Dementium probably hasn't aged well. It was just somewhat of a novelty playing that kind of game on the Nintendo DS, like the PSP it was mindblowing getting console like gaming experiences on the go. I have a feeling it's our nostalgia that would potentially cloud our judgement of this game.

I thought Requiem was alright from the first hour or so that I played of it. But it is a movie game in some sense, so if you're going into this experience be aware that it's all very scripted and cinematic. I was just using it to test out my new graphics card at the time. Very demanding game maxed out. But it seemed fairly polished for what it is. They are movie games. Just so that is perfectly clear. If you hate a lot of the stuff put out by Sony then you will not like this.

I get that but I felt that they failed in that concept in a way. Game is trying to be two things that don't mesh together very well. The hardcore zombie survival moment to moment gameplay can even be kinda fun. Once you get good in combat you can manage a small group of zombies quite well but then you get to the part where a small mistake in aiming which is somewhat janky can lead to a zombie getting to bite you and then it's game over. The long term base building survival aspect can't exist if you can't level up your skills which means you have to be extremely careful to get there which becomes tedious.

I should say that my experience was mainly multiplayer and it sort of died off because my friends didn't have the patience to sneak around but neither were they willing to turn off zombie infection. We couldn't get to building anything because someone would die and lose the progress they made on their skills. It got frustrating very quickly.

If you turn off infection and play it solo or in group as people who are immune to infection it could be fun.
