Joker being supernatural to some extent is the only way to justify in-universe why Superman or Wonder Woman hasn't just flown in faster than the speed of light, grabbed him, and chucked him into the Phantom Zone.

Same reason why Gotham is canonically giga-cursed and under like a dozen different both mundane and supernatural conspiracies and secret societies trying to ruin it and if it wasn't for Batman it'd be 100x worse. Absolute Batman is a significant outlier, it actually manages to sell as much or more as popular manga.
One of the more recent issues got 200,000 sales without any fluffing from shit like blind bagging. It's legit really popular in a way that 99.9% of western comics aren't (that's also not even counting the millions of people who just pirate comics or follow along from other people who buy it/talk about it, make youtube videos about it, tiktok shit, etc.)

it's really stupid and over the top to the point it wraps back around to being charming. The Hickman imperial run has also been interesting, I always liked the cosmic shit in marvel and DC, and its a chance to put it in focus. I think Nova is getting a new book out of it, good Ol' Dick Ryder.
