Are competitive gamers who play the same game over and over missing out?
Yes I would say my buddy that plays Counterstrike at a level of barely competitive at the yearly lan tournament in our state and does nothing else at all with his life has missed out on uncountable life experiences and thousands of hours of much better games.
>>724455145Yes, Since in professional setting the more you play the more you're herded into playing in a particular way, essentially playing the most optimally and thus losing any sense of real fun, instead of being spontaneous and fun to play, your play-style becomes rigid and repetitive. Also after a while you play not because you actually enjoy playing, but because it's the only thing you understand

>>724455145ppl whove never experienced highest level competitive play against a person of equal skill will never know the heights of gaming
>>724455291>missed out on uncountable life experienceslol
Missed out on what exactly?
>>724455516you need a spine and willingness to get good for that.one look into the average /v/ fighting game thread shows you the dire state of most people here
>>724455419in good games, the better you get, the more freedom to express yourself you get, actuallywhat you describe is what happens around advanced beginner/intermediate play
>>724455516I highly doubt your on that level or ever will be, fact is most people don't have the drive or even the skill to actually move up to that position, but because of the forced competitive environment created in most of these online games people think they need to grind their Rankings even though it's the least fun activity for all but a fringe section of any community
>>724455736heh. try me...
>>724455716In DRG, Hades or Cuphead i always had fun losing and mastering the game since the games were made to fun first and cater to a fringe section of competitive sweats, sure you can play like a sweat and use some broken strats, but the game or the community doesn't force you to do so, compare that to modern MOBA's or FPS like CS:Go or Overwatch where unless you pick the exact items and do things the most optimally you're called bad for trying to simply enjoying the game, they is no option to simply play the game for it's sake, you have to always win.
>>724456152Somebody doesn't play CS.
>>724456152>unless you pick the exact items and do things the most optimallyusing the negev every round got you called a slur?
>>724455145they would never play project nortubel
i look like this
>>724456276I used to and while i know that there are community maps or servers which can be pure fun, last i played, even in casual games people told me to pick AK or AWP >>724456348Never liked using it, very low damage and large spread, is only effective in closed areas where enemies can't get away easily.
>>724456538>admits that weapons have situational uses>can't comprehend using them for said situations or benefitslmao
>>724456538>large spread
>>724455590cool games/variety
>>724455145Missing out on not being mentally ill? Yes.
Only fighting game people I know are losers with deadend jobs and blacks
>>724456659Everytime I ask people here about games they cry about everything being shit so I doubt that.
>>724456621>negev>confused it to M249 https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Xa54yW5LHJUsry my bad
>>724456152i said>in good gamesgive fighting games a try. 3rd Strike is one of the most unbalanced messes in the popular games section and it is still very beloved to this day, by players of all levels, 26 years after release

>>724455145no
>>724455145>>724455291people who are at that 'good, but not competitive' level forever but have sunk too much time and energy into their game of choice to give up on being actually competitive seem to be everywhere these days. It's probably because of the dopamine hit from rank ups in matchmaking creating addicts.
